NYPD, FDNY Chiefs Head To DC To Push For First Responders’ Bill

New York City’s police and fire chiefs are in Washington, D.C., Wednesday to push for a better communication system for first responders.

FDNY Commissioner Salvatore Cassano and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly are encouraging lawmakers to create a national communication network for rescue workers.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is co-sponsor of the bill that would help different agencies connect during an emergency.

    It would be a national disgrace if anyone in Washington would not let this bill go thru.Interagency communication is a very real issue that needs to be resolved quickly. Powerful lessons were learned from the 9-11 disaster.

    She is too late to the game. There already is such a project underway from the Dept of Homeland Security, but like all good government projects it is severely delayed.
