New Eternal Jewish Family Affiliated Beis Din Established in Detroit

p11.jpgA fully functioning Beis Din that subscribes to the  standards of Gedolei Yisroel in universally accepted conversions, will serve Detroit and its environs, it was announced by representatives of the Vaad Harabbonim of Detroit and the Eternal Jewish Family following a meeting between Rabbi Leib Tropper, Chairman of the Rabbinic Board of the EJF, and the Vaad Harabbonim. The Beis Din agreed to follow the standards on geirus as per the  piskei din of such past and present poskim as Hagaon Rav Moshe Feinstein zt”l, Hagaon Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach zt”l, the Minchas Yitzchok, Hagaon Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv shlit”a and Hagaon Rav Reuven Feinstein shlit”a.

Following his visit to Detroit,  Rabbi Tropper said that he was extremely impressed with the caliber of the dayanim and that he had no doubt that “it would emerge as one of the model botei din” around the world. He said that he was overwhelmed by “the warm reception and sincerity of the Beis Din” in adopting the standards of Gedolei Yiosroel in universally accepted conversions. The rabbonim and dayonim of the Vaad Harabbonim who participated included Rabbi Doniel Neustadt, Yoshev Rosh – Vaad Harabbonim, Rabbi Meilech Silberberg, Rabbi Chaim Bergstein, Rabbi Ari Kostelitz and Rabbi S. Zachariaish, former Chairman of the Vaad Harabbonim.

The rabbonim complimented EJF on its accomplishments since being founded three years ago. They were enthusiastic about becoming part of a growing network of Botei Din in the U.S., Israel, and Europe that would follow the geirus standards of the leading poskim. The rabbonim also thanked EJF Chairman Mr. Tom Kaplan for his support of this new affiliation between EJF and the Beis Din.”

While EJF does not establish batei din, it works with existing and  botei din in formation that function in accordance with the standards of the foremost  Gedolei Hatorah. The Detroit Beis Din, which was established 26 years ago, is the 18th in the worldwide network of botei din that subscribe to the EJF standards. Other Botei Din are located in Israel and Europe. In the US, the Botei Din function in such cities as Baltimore, Monsey, Philadelphia, Chicago, Cleveland, New York,  Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Montreal, Miami, Lakewood, Dallas, Toronto, Houston, and Vancouver.

  1. Dear Editor:

A Torah’dikeh website like Yeshiva World should be a little more discerning before printing propaganda disseminated by an organization that shows its Mafreses Parsah while hiding its lack of Ma’aleh Gairah! V’dai L’chakimah b’remizh!

As a Rav in I can tell you in our city – many a Geirus which we reject out of hand due to an open and clear lack of sincerity, commitment to Torah & Mitzvos, their spouses that will NOT become shomer Torah U’mtzvos along with them – or when the potential Ger/Giores says openly they are ONLY doing it for their spouse and have no real interest in becoming frum, and then . . . in steps EJF and makes the Geirus! And this is rachmana nitzlan happening across the USA in smaller cities where therer is no strong presence of Orthodox Rabbonim!!

Please YW – Chachamim Yezaharu B’divreichem! You are giving publicity to a corrupt organization that is TEMPORARILY popular because it is throwing $$$$ around! Call the Rabbonim and speak with them! You have my email address – be happy to speak with you and give you others to speak with!

  2. i know it is erev R”H but something must be said here. to add to what ploni said, the Badat”z Yerushalayim publicly published a VERY strongly worded kol korei against this ‘EJF’ organization and its operations.
there is no reason to get into specifics now. however, with all due respect, i’m inclined to side with the Badatz Yerushalayim over the Badatz of Detroit.

  3. Rabbi Neustadt; Rabbi Feinstein; Rav Eliashiv; Rabbi Tropper. Are these all corrupt people, Ploni? And please go back to the Mishna, where it says Chachamim Hizaharu bedivreichem, not Yezaharu. It’s funny that when quoting a ma’amar chazal about being careful with words, you quote the words wrongly. This is no minor coincidence. It is the Yad Hashem giving us a good siman about the general reliability of the comment. Go ask for mechilla from the people you bashmutzed, my friend.

  4. I have no comment on geirus, but it is amazing that “in the US, the Botei Din function in such cities as …Montreal, … Toronto, … and Vancouver.”

  5. dd/#5: That is a funny catch! But what can you expect? This is a press release issued by a Public Relations agency (Lubicom) as indicated below the article. Since when does a Torah based organization require press releases and Public Relation firms?

  6. Anything coming from Lubicom needs to be judged carefully. This reminds me of a rav who once said that if you see water with a certain hechsher, you need to check that it has no additives of flavor.

  7. Leizer:
You are correct in pointing out slight mis-dikduk of my caution to the editors of YW (who are Bnei Torah). But please note – I DID NOT QUOTE the mishnah (neither with quotation marks, nor by referencing the Mishnah) and that is actually because, it was never meant as a quote – ONLY as a manner of speech designed to echo chazal caution – not to quote them.

    Now to your point.

“Rabbi Neustadt; Rabbi Feinstein; Rav Eliashiv; Rabbi Tropper. Are these all corrupt people, Ploni?”

There are three groups of people that you have clumped into one. If I may please . . Rav Eliashiv,(& to a degree Rabbi Feinstein) I believe, as do a number of other Rabbonim who are involved in Kehillos across the USA and are therefore dan them lekaf zechus (note: no quotes -ok?;) that they are simply unaware of the REAL FACTS on the ground – and what is really happenening in these geirus cases! What more can I say? That is why the Badatz of Yerushalayim (no small people – I’m sure you would not suggest that they too ask R’ Tropper mechila!) issued a strong Kol Koraei against EJF!

It amazes all who know R’ Nochum Eisenstein as he used to be THE LEADER in being Lochem Milchemes Hashem kneged any geirus that had even the slightest tinge of shelo lishma! And today you never hear from him anymore about supposedly BAD geirusin!! Gee what happened?

It is only after EJF (and their mega millions – distributed thru R’ Tropper) begain spreading batim melayim kol tuv – that R’ Nachum became a protaginist of all kinds of shady geirusin! (I will NOT ask mechila as you suggested, thank you – Ill wait until the Moetzes does an independant review).

As to R’ Danny Neustadt . . . not sure where he stands . . . innocence like Reb Elyashiv? Or niave? Only time will tell!

Bottom line is . . . if you are in fact an objective casual observer – seeking truth – may I suggest you make the effort to inquire from a random sampling of ‘other’ Rabonim – ones with information on the ground about Geirus. If you need phone numbers? I will give the blog owner permission to fw you my email address. Write and tell me who you are and how to reach you.

If however you are a nogaya b’davar, in one way or another (as I suspect is the case) . . well then that speaks for itself I guess.

    K’sivah V’chasimah Tovah! A Gut G’bentched Yahr!

  8. EDITOR PLEASE ADD THE FOLLOWING TO MY POST? THANKS!!

PS. Please lets keep this L’shem Shomayim and not use ad hominems and personal shtuchs – knowlegde of what YOUR interpretation of a msquoted Mishnah is a sign from shomayim for. OK?

This is a forum for exchange of ideas. There are many many CHASUHUVAH RABBONIM in BIG cities who grimace at the Gerusin that EJF is passing along! Btw, did you know the funding for EJF and all the free hotel get aways (conferences?) for young Rabbonim – all comes from a mega millionare that was married to a goy for many many years and R’ Tropper converted his wife, and he wants to do the same for “all the nebach lost Yidden married to Goyim”??
