1:38PM EST: YWN regrets to inform you of the tragic Petira of 37-year-old R’ Dovid Frost Z”L, a Yungerman in Lakewood Kollel, and a nephew of Rav Matisyahu Soloman Shlita, the Lakewood Mashgiach.
R’ Dovid had been involved in a serious car accident in Upstate NY while returning from the Friar Tuck Inn (Catskill NY), on Sunday Dec 13 (Chanukah). He was travelling with his wife and six children at the time of the crash, which occurred on Route 23 in Cairo, NY.
He was transported to the Albany Trauma Center, where he was to undergo a surgery on his knee. Sources tell YWN that complications arose during the surgery, which left him in critical condition, and fought for his life until his Petira just a few moments ago early Monday afternoon.
His wife and children had all been taken to various Upstate NY hospitals as well, and have all been released except for one child still in Albany Trauma Center. (Arrangements are currently being made to have the child moved down to NYC.)
Volunteers from Misaskim are currently in the hospital, and working with the local medical examiner and officials to have the Niftar released as soon as possible and transported back to the NY/NJ area for a Levaya.

I am sure I am just one of many that are in deep shock and sadness, staring at my screen in disbelief. Such a fine Ben Torah he was. Baal Middos, smiling and a yerei shomayim was who Dovid was. What can we say to his wife and six young children….. Nothing to say….

You know, I am sitting here just thinking that this is really the way life is. We have to appreciate every second that we are living and breathing. You never know. Hashem Yirachem.

we lost a very close friend. we are nummbed by this sudden tragedy.
I just heard from my instructor recently who works in orthopedics, that his brother-in -law was
near Albany and suffered a severe fracture of his lower leg. He insisted on being transported to the NY area to be treated by his brother-in-law and his group. He had to be transported in the back of a pick-up truck under blankets in sub-zero weather. My instructor said he was crazy and until I read this story I thought so too. We really have to appreciate the better care there is in a city, than the rural areas. Hodu La’Hashem Ki Tov!
The child was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Philadelphia last nite.
