Canadian Jew Missing In Haiti

The following is from the Canadian Star:

Alexandre Bitton, an information technology consultant from Montreal, landed in Port-au-Prince barely an hour before the earthquake hit. He was travelling with his boss, who believes Bitton had just finished checking into the Hotel Montana when the quake turned it to rubble.

“He was either in the lobby or in his room – I don’t know,” said Bitton’s wife, Line Dufresne, 33. The couple have a 2-year-old son.

Bitton, 37, had planned to be in Haiti on business for a week. It was his first trip to Haiti.

“There are rescuers at the hotel and they’re starting to get people out,” Dufresne said.

“I have hope.”

YWN has confirmed that he is Jewish, and is a member of a Conservative Temple in Montreal.
