3.1 Magnitude Quake Rattles Israel


The Geophysical Institute of Israel reported that a 3.1 magnitude earthquake shook northern Israel in the early hours of Monday morning.

Dr. Rami Hofstetter, head of the institute’s Seismological Division said the quake’s epicenter was around Kibbutz Yiron in the upper Galilee. The earthquake was also felt in the Galilee panhandle. There were no reports of damage or injury.

  1. The scientists felt it (okay, they had machines to help).

    Reporting minor and routine tremors is a mistake since it might make people complacent over the real probability of another major earthquake similar to devasting ones that have occured in the past.
