Maskim, but everybody cares about the dollar and the cool hip goyish sounding songs sell so what do you think the composers will write?

# 2 Sacrilege. jewish music has been steadily becoming less and less 'jewish sounding' over the past two decades. goyishe songs are being integrated with the jewish songs (alternative yofyofisa for example)and this is bringing us closer and closer to goyishe culture without us even realizing it. sure the kids want this kind of music. but in a generation where the singers are so looked up to, its the singers and composers MORAL OBLIGATION to pull in the other direction, not wimp out and say "what can i do this is the kind of music they want i must give it to them" just like if your butcher was selling treif its not loshon hara to warn people, here too its a mitzvah to tell people that they can choose not to allow their children to be fed traife music. i am also proud that jewish kids are singing psukim in 2010 , but why to the tune of goyisha songs? lets try and foresee the future. is it not obvious that its going down hill?

it's pretty impressive that he didn't accept the shabbos job, but what about singing with women?

No offense but it doesnt impress me much that a frum or mostly frum yid opted not to work on shabbos. Its not that impressive especially in this day and age and especially for a person who has plenty of other money making opportunities.

I don't know if he qualifies as part of the "Jewish Entertainment Industry" but Cantor Dudu Fisher's refusal to accept a starring role in a popular Broadway musical until they let his understudy sub for him on every Shabat and Yom Tov is a massive kiddush HaShem. It is even more impressive than Hank Greenberg and Sandy Koufax refusing to play baseball on Yom Kippur because Fisher refused to perform at least once every week. And Fisher has never been invited back for another Broadway role.

And the point of this post is thread is to what, start a loshon hara ramble about Jewish Singers?

I think that Jewish Music is great! the fact that in the year 2010 young kids are singing words of Tanach/Chumash/Davening to me is something to be very proud of.

Some people make the mistake of thinking there is something intrinsically holy about the Jewish Entertainment Industry and their various singers, performers and entertainers. This is no more the case than with Jewish plumbers, accountants, or grocers.

Of course most of them are not c"v as depraved as secular singers, performers, and entertainers. And like plumbers, accountants, and grocers the Jewish entertainers serve a purpose. Hashem should bless all of them with health and parnasa. But let us keep things in perspective.
