See? I told you it was my VERY humble opinion. People don't believe me. Brains and zees kites don't always go together. (live in Israel? Avira D'Eretz Yisroel Machkim)

Yes, you're right. Emuna is the root of the problem. Thanks for taking the time to correct me.

ZeesKite -- If one is truly happy for their friend's good luck, success, happiness, then they would not have the jealousy problem. The question is how do you get to the point of not being jealous? Many of the sifrei mussar explain jealousy as coming from a lack of emunah, rather than as you imply a lack of Ahavas Yisroel. In other words, if we could somehow truly internalized the concept that Hashem runs the world, and that what someone else has in no way "takes away" from what we have, and that Hashem is absolutely just and exacting in his cheshbonos even if to us it doesn't seem "fair", there would be no more jealousy.

Thanks for you well wishes.

I don't know in which thread to answer you. In my very humble opinion, the real defense, answer to jealousy is to work on the midda, like you so well wrote here. The other answers our fine posters gave, seem to me as just a work around. To me it seems, the way to overcome jealousy is to truly be happy for your friend’s good luck, success, happiness. That is the essence of ואהבת לרעך כמוך, you and your friend are as one, no need for jealousy. It seems far-fetched, but it’s HaShem who empowers us – He commanded לא תחמוד, and He gives us the wherewithal to carry it out.
I may write more on this later, with the olam's approval.

I know it's a bit lofty, if I keep on it, thinking about it, something of this may rub off, or it might just click in one day.

btw Is your 'keyboarding' as sharp as you tongue too? Do we have to keep a distance?

Zeeskite; You have enumerated lofty goals, indeed. I personally am not at this (Lofty) Madregah, yet. My present (spiritual) standing is, that if attacked, (Mostly verbally) I plead with the attacker to cease and desist before I unleash a befitting retort, which the perpetrator will surely not like. I am (B"H) blessed with a sharp tongue that can really penetrate the kishkes (Guts, blaa"z). As far as flying off the handle (You) due to a (Chronic) cold. It's simple. Take some over the counter cold remedy.

Sorry to sound so lofty and sublime. I generally tend to fly (hence ‘Kite’) off the handle at the un-human early hours of the morning, with a persisting cold, cough, headache and accessories. Pardon.
(It's a nice concept, though)

Me? I aspire to emulate the ways of David HaMelech, ואני בחלותם לבושי שק to Daven and feel for someone who has wronged myself. To help out and befriend a competitor. To ask Mechila and appease, comfort someone whom has insulted, slandered or abused me. To truly be a משלם טובה תחת רעה.

I read somewhere, sometimes ago, that HaShem judges, deals with a person the way that person conduct himself/herself. (I shouldn’t say this but) I realize and know my account is not by any way clean, maybe I stand chance by internalizing my aspirations and modifying my behavior.
