Does anyone know of a nice text to write on a thank you note not to long and maybe with a short and sweet brocho at the end?

Ideally, every letter of thanks should be personalized for the recipient, although these days with literacy and manners both at abysmally low levels, I suppose I should be grateful to receive anything.

    I am still waiting for a response to a wedding gift I sent–in 2008!

    Can you give more details?

If not, how about “yehi ratzon seyemalie Hashem kol mishalos libchem l’tovah”?

Brachos should flow from the heart and shouldn’t be pre-packaged. Any honest and meaningful comment would be appreciated.

Before my chasuna I sat down and wrote a beautiful note to both myy parents. They both appreciated it tremendously. Words from the heart are always more appreciated!

A beautiful thing indeed. I learnt that tears can be seen on adult men too! (Though not the first time!)

    Dear Uncle Homeowner.

my husband joins me in thanking you for that beautiful gift you gave us the occasion of our wedding back in 2008.

what with all the wrapping paper, toiveling all the gifts, setting up house and then getting pregnant and having triplets, it took time to get around to writing this letter and i do apologize for the delay.

may we merit to always share in each others simchos and i want to assure you that next time you give us a gift, you wont wait three and a half years for the thank you note. i know it caused you great distress to wait for this note.

    with great love,

    your niece and nephew,

    tikvah and moishe.

p.s. we had triplets two months ago, i am not sure if you got around to sending us a gift……

    Dear Ploni,

Thank you so much for the beautiful (generous) and thoughtful whatever-it-is that you gave me on the occasion of whatever.(If a gifty-gift) I am sure it will grace my table (house) for many years to come, and I will always think of you when I use it. (If a cash gift – I am saving for a new couch, sefer, computer, etc. and your gift will enable me to reach my goal that much sooner.)

Most especially, I want to thank you for sharing in our simcha. B”EH, we should be zochim to be m’shaleim lachem k’gmulchem hatov.

    Tzvideer, ha ha.

blueberrymuffin, what makes you think I’m not a man? And what difference would it make anyway? The issue is manners in writing letters.

My daughter also wrote my husband and me each a truly moving and beautiful letter of her tremendous hakoras hatov for our raising her, and for all that we had done for her all her life and in bringing her to her chuppah. it was filled with love, and is making me tear up even as I write about it.

Tunabeigel- do what you want. But I would say to write words from your heart to your parents. Skip the rhymes. Rather write them a nice letter. It’s so much warmer.

Thats beautiful! When did she give it to you? At the wedding?

I wrote a beautiful letter to my parents too. I sneaked it into their bedroom with a gift attached, the night before my wedding, and left it on the dresser for them to find.

It’s a beautiful way to express appreciation.

Some of my friends had a family member/friend put a letter and gift on the table in her parents home, while the family was already by the wedding. The found it when they came home. What a beautiful way to end a simcha!

I’m just not used to writing letters, i suppose i didn’t really take english seriously when i was in school, (anyway things like writing letters come more natural by a woman) i just need basic ideas what to write and how to write it.

Tuna: “things like writing letters come more natural by a woman”

I don’t think that Leon Uris or William Shakespeare would have appreciated that statement.

There is just so much wrong with this paragraph it’s difficult to know where to start.

Tuna, it’s never too late to learn. If you want to do anything in this world, you’ll need a command of the English language. It doesn’t have to be at the level of the great authors but it should at least meet high school standards.

Here’s your first assignment: examine the corrected version of your paragraph below with the original and figure out the errors made.

how about we give tuna ideas what to write about, and stop worrying about everything else!

I’ve been out of high school for a few years already, I haven’t been studying English for some time so you guys can’t really blame me.
