I am a student in Brooklyn College. I have 126 credits + 16 that were transferred from a seminary in Israel as Judaic Studies credits in Brooklyn College. Will those 16 credit hours be counted by the CPA authority? I am majoring in Accounting.

Yes, as long as you have the basic business/accounting classes requirements as listed on the NASBA website you are eligible to sit for the CPA exam. (If you have a BS in Accounting (CPA track) from Brooklyn College you will qualify). The Judaic credits only count as electives to count towards the 150 hours. You will still need 2 years experience under a CPA. Only a Masters in Accounting will allow you to qualify for the 1 year requirement under a CPA.

Thanks. Did you fulfill your cpa education requirements that way?

I’m thinking about doing the BC master’s in Accounting program, from an educating perspective. I wouldn’t need a GMAT to get into the program, because I’ll have a degree from there.

Yes, that is how I fulfilled the CPA education requirements. I took several other business electives during undergrad in BC to get to over 150 Credits since you are paying the same no matter how many classes you take per semester. I wouldn’t recommend getting a Masters in BC if you have options available as it is not AACSB accredited and most employers look for that accreditation. It is not the best option if you do well on the GMATs/ and if you have the money. You can find an AACSB accredited college that has a Master Accounting/MBA for about the same cost. Baruch College is AACSB accredited and would be a better option.
