If people can say the the best composers today are Shlomo Carlebach and Moshe Goldman, then I will say the greatest singer today is Jo Amar, a’h.

Definitely Gad Elbaz- Unreal voice both powerful and emotional, and amazing songs, both fast and slow, hebrew and english (check out his new album L’chaim)

Wow I cant believe nobody mentioned 8th day

they might not have the best voices in the game but no one can compete with the music they make

I would say todays most talented singer is lipa, But i do not like his new style. I widh he would change back to his old style. He had so many more fans at that time. My second pick is shloimy gertner (he has the nicest voice and most clear voice.) third yoni z

In my opinion it has to be Alex Clare. He is an Orthodox Jew who in 2011 had “Too close” hit #7 in the USA charts. Doesn’t exactly sing “Jewish” music but fits the OP’s criteria.

its gotta be either moshav or simply tsfat in terms of just enjoying music

i know they dont have the best voices but theyre the best bands, if were saying voices only then i would have to say either ohad or the baruch levine-simcha leiner duo

There are different types of voices. “Better” or “worse” is a matter of personal opinion.

Burnt steak, Interesting you mention Alex Clare. R’ Fischel Schechter met him in the summer in EY and spoke about him in a shiur. A very inspirational person, how he was prepared to give up his whole music career for yiddishkeit, and microsoft basically came looking for him to get rights to a song of his for an advertising campaign. His career basically went only upward since then.

His music from what I’ve heard of it, doesn’t sound Jewish at all, although he is a ben torah who sits and learns most of his time. He is currently on tour around Europe, but goes to London for Shabossos.

Burnt steak, Alex clare is not a Jewish singer. Did you mean he recently became a baal teshuva?

rebshidduch, It’s semantics. He is a Jewish singer. He is not a singer of Jewish music.

Jewish forums on good and bad jewish music are a waste of time. The minute you admit some guy can’t sing its loshon hara. So all you get online is everyone blogging how wonderful everyone sings and no one telling as it is.

    That’s okay. There’s already a Zusha.
