I can’t function without my morning coffee. However, after a coffee I always feel painfully hungry.? how can i enjoy my coffee w/o putting on weight?as a side note ,I drink a black coffee w/o any milk, since milk gives me stomach problems . would that be the reason?

Don’t have the coffee on an empty stomachs. I know it’s easier said than done especially if you enjoy your coffee during your Seder before shachris.

It’s possible that the hunger is not related to the coffee per se, but the fact that it’s morning, you haven’t eaten anything overnight, and your body is now wide awake and needing fuel for the day. As far as putting on weight, a big breakfast is much less of an issue than a big dinner, since the breakfast food will go towards energy during the day, but dinner digests while you are sleeping. In fact, a big breakfast with complex carbs (which break down slowly and release their energy slowly over a long period of time) and protein may help curb the potential to overeat later in the day.

You didn’t mention whether you add sweeteners to your coffee. Some people find that sugar and even artificial sweeteners can trigger feelings of hunger.

In fact, the whole concept of a forshpeis (appetizer) is that tasting certain foods gets one in the mood to eat additional food items.

So, consider reducing or even eliminating sweeteners from your morning coffee.

    i never drank coffee B”H

Coffee is not healthy but if you drink it then its your strength of the day. see if you can find something healthier to replace it with so you can get your strength. it makes me sad that i see lots of parents letting their kids drink coffee at such a young age when its very unhealthy & also not needed at their young age. (when i go to Brissim)

    #1195674

I think the term is “clean” 🙂 Isn’t it the coffee that *makes* us sober?

When I was a kid my mom made me “kid’s coffee.” It was the best!!!

    Kid’s Coffee Recipe:

-A pinch of instant crystals in approx. half a cup of hot water

    -Two teaspoons of sugar

-Milk until the cup is near full (can sub. with soy/almond/coconut milk)

    The Starbuck’s Frappuccino of Youth.

Side effects: Love my Ema even more.

it could very well be just the drinking (any drink) & not the coffee

I’m not such a coffee drinker but I have similar issues when drinking water or orange juice in the morning

    RY,

Depends on your insurance and if you buy your coffee at Starbucks.

Coffee may be much more expensive.

Coffee fills me up and helps me to lose weight actually. But I guess everyone is different. I also have always found that exercise makes me less hungry, but someone I know says the opposite.

Starbucks doesn’t sell coffee. They sell the experience and wifi.

People may respond differently to stimulants. Also the amount of caffeine makes a difference. And one’s tolerance

Yellow teeth is a big side effect from hot coffee.

    Solutions:

-Use a metal straw when it is less hot. –

    -Rinse your mouth out after.

-Tan and stay tanner. The darker your skin (works with any color) the more white your teeth appear.

-Give your friends, family, and coworkers B&W Goggles to wear whenever you hang out

    Or…

-Be happy that at least you have teeth!

One side effect of drinking coffee is the obligation to recite asher yatzar many times over in the course of the next few hours.

Boruch Hashem, you have the opportunity to make sure you get in your 100 brachos a day! dozens of shehakols, borei nefashoses and asher yatzar said throughout the day.

“Yellow teeth is a big side effect from hot coffee.”

Use Colgate Whitening toothpaste. I get tons of compliments about my white teeth.
