hey we are on page 29
shall we all go and dine
    will the #'s stay fine
    and just stay in line

for some food is what we hate
beacause it comes with added weight
and we have to look good for a date
    to meet the right mate

Coffee: I once saw a blog that stated; that when a person has a bad dream stress hormones kick in, which cud relate to a high in the morn...so ever wondered y your bg is a drop evaluated in the morn…?? here u go! or else coff maybe u dreamt about food!;)…

Alls: It sure did make me into a better and more positive person ..I always tell kids (the ones that know I have d) that there are so many sicknesses r’l to cry over y cry for “lil” thingys.. n then they go yeah your right loll..

Reb: regarding keeping db a secret …my personal point of view; I do not think it’s our job to tell all of diabetes to the boy.…I know everyone has their unique way to how to postpone toward relating this info to the boy ….but I truly think it’s a parents obligation to tell the other party after wtva num date u wish, that her daughter has a so called ‘medical problem’…n not let the girl be awed all along the second date as to how the boy will react toward her medical issue… as well as how she’s gonna tell this all to him, and prior to the third date u get all frustrated ..cuzz in a couple of hours u’ll have to reveal your majO life secret.. reb, u sure made the right decision via not keeping db a secret, I wish I would not have kept d a secret.. It wudve made life so much easier likewise now in shidduchim time furthermore in my childhood years …

sweet-idk if i nec. agree with your way of handling it..i think that when your'e going out..and feel that you've gained a mutual respect and can see something possibly happening-that its the girls job to tell herself. Marriage has to have open communication..and in life, you can't always go thru your parents and whatever..i dunno..thats how i view it..

yes i know there are two f's in coffee

i think i agree with you reb- i know it wont be easy to tell a boy but its something that i think he would need to hear from me. idk lets all GET UP TO THAT POINT!!! SOOOOOOON!!!

    Posted 4 years ago #
  6. allsgr8
    Absolutely

I agree with reb and coffee- when your dealing with something that could potentialy be a lifelong partnership you should want to be open with eachother and it also feels good to get it off your chest on your own.

Loll…you kidz hava point. Marriage has to… n needs to.. N MUST BE with open communication. However, I do not agree fully....'Why put your child through it? Why put yourself through it the emotions are great... Esp. some people will say no, as soon as they hear there is some medical involved, also I felt it doesn't have to be that it's not open communication because they know, and you'll talk about it when you meet / go out / date. On the other hand, as alls said... it's good to get off your chest on your own. I know of a D boy that went out with a kid. After meeting several times, the boy felt that it’s time to tell…. The girl’s family was so upset, to a point where the whole community schmoozed… perhaps. I ‘m a bit anxious for the right moment so that calls for all… but I hope all goes smoothly for all of you’s, when the right time unfolds…we gotta keep strong.

sweet this is an odd question but how old r u? u sound SO mature so i was jst curious! (plus you call us kids....lol)

sweet- I dont think the girls fam has any rite to be upset. He did exactly what he was told to do according to da'as torah. If they dont want to go ahead with the shidduch they dont have to but they certainly have no right to talk about it with everyone. Also, once your at a point where your ready to tell it means there is some "sort" of relationship beginning to form (I am speaking for those who date) and if that's the case the other party will be likely to consider you even though there's this "issue" becuase they can overlook it when comparing it to your middos, personality etc.
happens to be that I have a relative who went out with a boy with D. After the third date the shadchan called her mother to tell that the boy's side wants to tell them that he has D..etc. In the end they didnt go ahead with the shidduch but I wonder if the boy would have told her directly what would have happened...obviously this was what was bashert but just a thought....sometimes its good to hear it from the source..
    sorry for the long post!

i told my wife myself... and I totally agree w/ alls when it comes from the guy or girl herslf it's taking a further step into the relationship, coming from parents- i would think would make the other side more wary. "a medical issue" yeah, but we look and act 100% normal and a healthy looking person sitting in front of you is proof of that!
When you explain it on a date youreslf, you can give some explanation, what you do, how it affects your daily life. Coming from a parent makes it more secretive and ominous sounding

    Whoa! Lol!
There has been some interesting points made.. i think the difference is just how you're brought up.. i hear both sides though know how i'll most likely end up doing it! ..Anyhow, too many people know for it to be kept a secret.. Didn't you say that Reb? And you're still telling the guy yourself?
Lets just keep praying for one another (remember the tehillim כ and קל??).. and tryy to hold on..
BTW cofeefan, you asked in an earlier post about the email address - yup! It's going..!!! You gonna join?! Reb - you too.. Do you prefer a separate blog for this where it's more private or you find this good..?
And in case any1 is wondering, bh the appoint went okay, my A1C did see improvement although got a way to go! If i could do this anybody can..!
    Well...so long for now!

Loll;) I came across this one. (so true))

    The optimist sees the
    glass as half full...

    The pessimist sees the
    glass as half empty...

    The diabetic just silently
    prays there's enough o.j.
    to avert a tremendously
    embarrassing situation.

Hey!! Right here!! Sweettooth - pretty good one! i've gone and got high again tonight - licking batters and all - maybe it's just bc of this that i feel so rotten?? I did meet some lows yesterday and a good one today too! i guess you just gotta keep going, forget emotions and just do! It's like so much easier not to care... in a way. Whatever! Shabbos tomorrow...YAY!! I'M SO EXCITED!! AREN'T YOU?!! Well...in all honesty i'm really not.. i hate shabbosos! (i guess it sounds pretty bad to read if you don't know what context i'm talking about..!?) Who knows, maybe this week will be better .. Just stay strong and hold on tight, it will get easier!
Cofeefan - did you end up emailing? I take it you didn't.. How are you managing? Would like to b.i.t as long as you do too! (same with you reb ;-) )

Coff, yeah I was born mature. N nope I'm pretty much younger than you!

Right alls he did according to Hallachic wise, but you have to understand that the other party doesn’t think regarding das torah, they're thinking concerning their own side perspective and regarding future gain. Em sure this kallah to b was thinking to herself “y did this boy consider me in the first place, did he think ill marry someone diabetic “alls seriously talking to think of it as this way if u weren’t of had diabetes would you look away your children’s health and marry a boy with diabetes because, he’s got golden middos….???
I do agree with u alls, but I do think that by shocking a boy, there is less potential the shiddich should happen. I know plenty of diabetic couples which NONE of them married a boy without some”stich”cuz I assume after several dates, they all refused cuz of the medical problem.
Dx of course it shows a lot by parents telling it shows the kid doesn’t have any guts to herself n needs to rely on her parents. What my question was in the first place is to why a diabetic would even think of dating a healthy boy when there is a small chance that they’ll ever consider marrying them except for DX that was really LUCKY!
Whatever the weather, hope our basherter's show up really soon ....

sweet- i am getting trained for the sensor on the 26th, and i am very excited (whoo hoo more holes in my body. lol) hopefully i will have better control.
    i just got a 7.1 on my a1c

i didn't think that a girl would say no just because i have D. especially since i was pretty much under control

sweet- well u saound very mature (plus you keep calling us kidz......)

sweet- its hard to tell what I'd say if I wouldnt have D and if a boy would tell me that he did..I dunno..but I do think that if everything else was good and he had great middos and was everything I wanted Id prob go for it..again, its hard to look at it as an outsider once your in it already but I just hope and pray that I will marry a normal, healthy, wonderful boy be'ezras hashem! SOON!
And btw sweet, there are plenty of D's that married regualar healthy spouses..I dont think that Dx3 sitch is a rarity. bh

It's true that there are people who won't mind and go ahead anyhow. But there are enough people who won't! There is often gonna be the "But" by the other side (too?). Would you look away from that? It would depend on what it is but i suppose than that there are some people who would say diabetes is "too big" to look away from.. Whatever - the right one will say yes bsd! May it be very soon!
Coffee - i really know what you're saying.. just wanted to add though that you don't have to exchange any personal details e.g your name.. whatever.. do whatever your comfortable doing!

    Posted 4 years ago #
  24. cofeefan

Great Cofeefan! Looking forward ;-) yeah.. i know exactly the reluctance in exchanging the personal info!
I think i've come to the grand conclusion to KEEP AWAY FROM THE KITCHEN! It only does no good... i'm wayy to high again, what's happened to the good number i was a couple of hours ago?! Maybe i'll just take on the "flying high" attitude and let it fly right past me.. For shabbos too.. Is that being positive alls??
Do any of you also find shabbos difficult?
This is a pretty random question but how many units do you use up when you prime your pump (those of us still priming :) ) talking of pumps... allsgr8? When do we hear that you're pumping?!

princess- well ur saying it in a positive way but its not such a positive idea :) lol
they just called me from the doc office that they're filling out the paperwork for me to see if I can get approved. I never knew it would take this longs...im already losing the excitement :(

to those of u on pumps-from the time you decided to pump how long did it take for the doctor to get you on it?

Sorry coff you seem very bothered...I guess you're a real KID;) (Ouch! Kiddin...)

Dx: Interesting how everyone gets trained, I never received any training prior to pumping nor for the sensor, I just read the manuscript and arrived at my doctor well prepared..loll, I still got some hopes to become a pump trainer one day! ...I insert it in my upper thigh so no punctures or holes to bear. You sure will have better control life is so much easier with the sensor, although most people don't love it at first, but it does amazing to your health. I'm lost without wearing it.

Alls -someone can be "regular & healthy” but still have some minor health or family problem. Alls. I meant a problem as in some slight dent. I sure don't mean a diabetic to marry someone really sick as in kidney failure ..etc.

Sweet- I didn't know either medtronic just called me up and said we will come and that was it. When I trained for the pump I practiced in my stomach and got an anxiety attack lol I almost passed out on him. I have no clue why that should happen.
Princess- yes shabbos is sometimes hard. Friday night I woke up with a 34 and couldn't tell the difference in taste between grape juice and apple juice b"h I am ok.

reb- Oy! I really feel for you..its so upsetting when you expect it to be a certain number and then its waay higher than that :(
Let me ask you, what was your last HgA1c? Was it lower than 8.3? Can you think of anything different that you've been doing that could have made such a difference?
Personally, I found that the times when my HgA1c was higher it was becuase my overnight numbers weren;t so good. I think overnight numbers have the biggest impact on overall Hga1c...what do you think?
Just keep strong and know that you can do it!! :) I'm rooting for you reb!!!
