Sellers hate it because they don’t get to sell nearly as many. Buyers hate it because they don’t get to buy what they want without buying other stuff. The most common result is that the buyer decides that he/she didn’t really want the thing anyway.

I think what buyers hate is that the amount needed to spend in order to get free shipping keeps on going up. At least I do. The combination of needing to buy more AND that that not everything counts is very often a deal breaker.

“Save for Later” is a nice feature, but very often those items end up getting deleted rather than purchased. Which may mean we are impulse shoppers.

WHY NOT JUST SWITCH TO EBAY

where you can get the same thing your looking for BRAND NEW also-not everything is used-& alot come with free shipping. just look for the seller with the best offer & free shipping included

Ebay is more risky and the return policy can’t compare with amazon (especially amazon prime).

Walmart.com now has a prime like program. First month free.

Free shipping. No minimum. 2 days shipping most items.

They are no doubt losing money on this and will eventually have to raise the minimum.

If you only knew how much they lose annually on free shipping…

I would rather pay the shipping than buy more stuff.

    #1161666

I wouldn’t. The shipping is a service charge. If I can avoid a service charge by clustering together things that I would be buying anyway, I’ll do it.

When you place an order through Amazon, it gets delivered to your house, meaning it will be shipped regardless of whether or not you’ve paid an extra charge for the shipping. I think it’s really silly to pay for shipping when you don’t have to, unless of course you’re paying for the convenience of having your item shipped to you right away rather than waiting until you need something else. (Even then, I’d rather stock up on things I know I will need eventually. Pay now or pay later, I’ll still be buying them at some point, so it’s not really spending “extra” money to buy them a few weeks early.)

I wouldn’t buy other things anyway. I don’t buy a lot of things fulfilled by Amazon.

    You don’t buy toilet paper?

Not frequently, and not from Amazon.com.

But you could, if it were the same price or cheaper than wherever you usually buy it, and would take off the shipping charge on your other item/s.

Ditto for laundry detergent, trash bags, etc…one each of these items would easily get you to the free shipping threshold.
