Everyone has a different prescription. How could there possibly be a gemach to share eyeglasses?

Factory Eyeglass Outlet on Nostrand and Quentin, across from the Madison Jewish Center, has glasses for really cheap prices.

the gemachs are for the frames only people. And who would want to wear them? Someone who can’t afford a new pair. I know there is one also, but don’t know where, sorry. I knew of one in Eretz Yisroel too

Most prescription eyeglasses are not reused here. Lenscrafters collects donated eyeglasses. Google ‘donate eyeglasses’. Bloomberg had an article last year describing that the economics of shipping and repairing made donating ‘a feel-good waste of money.’

Common reading glasses are more reusable. Some shuls have a basket of reading glasses for people who do not rely on the eruv.

thanx farrock, I have donated glasses in the past. there used to be a box in the bank to put them into. I googled and found 2 places to send them to. I knew such places exist but a friend told me there is a gemach that takes them and I figured the mavinim on YWN would know about it. Sorry to all those who think its gross but you’d be surprised at what is given away and happily accepted and used by someone else. Shreck and others, If you go see a 4D movie as is popular in the bronx zoo, the aquarium and and many other popular places people take their kids, you have to put on the glasses they give you. Does it eckle you then? That is way worse because many different people are wearing those each day. These glasses were my kids and used by one person only. Some are in excellent condition because we always get 2 pair for each new prescription so they have a back up.

I “hear” you. Actually it does “ich” me. A lot. Maybe I’m just over-sensitive. Yeah I know, it’s one of those about who Gemarah says their “life is not a life” :??????? ??????? ?????? ????. Nu nu. That’s the way I is. (and probably will be)

Is that the only two issues the Binah covers? I thought they reported on Asperger’s and —

That’s what it is! It’s jealousy. You should see a jealousist.
