ok, teen i'll put it here for you.

all i said was that it was no big deal getting my permit - just read the 100 questions when you're waiting on line. i didn't even get through all of them - a lot of it is common sense. and they always ask an alcohol question, so make sure you read those.

the biggest burner is that i can't even drive legally till i'm 17. i doubt my dad'll give in to that one. but the whole reason they even let me take drivers ed was because i once took my dad's car and he had a freak attack (they're not too frequent but when he has them i know i'm dead meat...) anyway, after that i signed up for driving.

    much better! :}. Moderator-55

this is really a random question but why is there a word inevitable and not a word evitable? this just occurred to me...

btw, thanks in advance for the compliments i'll probably get

    nice try kapusta

    dictionary.com

    ev⋅i⋅ta⋅ble
/ˈɛvɪtəbəl/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [ev-i-tuh-buhl] Show IPA Pronunciation
    –adjective

kapusta: prof. google says---"Inevitable" comes from the Latin word "inevitabilis" - in (not) + evitabilis (avoidable).
"Evitable" never really made it as a regular word in the language. However, I'd say you can use it without any sort of confusion - it's obviously the opposite of "inevitable".
A similar unused word is the opposite of "ruthless" - what does it mean to be "ruthful"?
Reuthe was an old word meaning "compassion" or "pity" - today we say "compasionate" rather than "ruthful".

Ok Moish and asdf, I got another stumper for you, and this one's been bothering me for years...

Mr. X has a bad day but he tells himself it just a kapara, which makes it easier to handle. Now he doesn't have as much tza'ar so is that considered the kapara because it was only based on the amount of tza'ar it would give him...lets see Prof google answer this one...

BTW, could one of you chachamim out there in coffee land tell me how the word evitable is used in a sentence... I'm still not so sure I believe you that its a real word...

    Posted 6 years ago #
  44. ok-the mods are on bec they have been shmoozing on the dvar torah thread 40 min ago and 1 min ago but there havent been any updates in 2 HOURS! why?

kapusta, don't you know that google is my best friend?

    Example sentence:
"Books, journals, conventions, and electronic networks have made
provincial isolation easily evitable." (James Sledd, _English Journal_,
    November 1994)

and ask your question to one of the gedolim on here. i'm no rav.

Moish from anything I've ever thought you to be, hard up for friends was never one of them...and btw, the question was posted for the public and cant you at least give me the satisfaction of saying that its a good question, somebody...?

kapushta: yes it is stil the same amount of kaparah bec when you recoginize that it is god giving it to you then that in itself is a step foward and really the whole point of being punished so just because you are not in as much pain or whatever the entire point of it was successful and you are now closer to hashem...im making this all up but it makes some kind of sense...at least i think it does but im not reading it a second time bec im to lazy so i have no idea lol
