I bought some today – two different items – and one had a OU-D and the other had a chof-K. I was curious – is that normal? And why would they do that?

Enjoy the chocolate, either this Shabbos on Shiva Ossor b’Tammuz, or Shabbos in 3 weeks on Tisho b’Ov, or of-course in the 9 days when you shall be deprived of juicy steak & meat.

Have in mind that you are eating it to have more energy l’Shem Shomayim, and then go & do some learning with that burst of energy.

    Two different plants.

Was the Kof-K also Cholov Stam?

    Two different plants.

Nah, they both came from Theobroma cacao.

But seriously, what’s up with that? Is it just me, or is that weird?

Another possibility is that they recently switched hechsheirim, and you got one package made under the old and one package made under the new.

A searchon OU’s website shows 320 Godiva products.

A search on Kof-K’s site (using company name) shows nothing.

Perhaps it recently switched from Kof-K to OU, hence the results you had on their respective websites.

Interesting…I just looked up the product with the Kof-K (Chocolate Chunk Brownies) on the Godiva website, and it says that that product is OU certified and is an online/catalog exclusive. Also, the one in the picture has a different packaging than mine does.

Consider this a gentle reminder to always check the hechsher. For instance, Lay’s potato chips are sometimes kosher, but they actually have some varieties with meat ingredients.

I’d recommend calling the Kof K and the OU. Sounds like a packaging mistake.

You sure you didn’t by a package of Ghiradeli chocolate? While Godiva is under the OU, Ghiradeli is under the Chaf K.

Regarding Lays. Only some of its chips have an OU. BBQ flavors have Triangle K.
