   2 words- verified SN's.
   Here's my idea of how it works- the sn's click the contact us with a phone # to be called back on (it easier to spoof the number of a sending call than a receiving call. someone at YWN actually speaks to the person of the sn, verifies who he/she claims to be, and the sn is marked as "verified".It's easy to fake an ip, it's hard to fake a voice.That's why audiotapes and recordings are such damaging evidence.

   Losers- infostealers, stalkers, sociopaths.
   Winners- everyone else, especially those wrongly accused of the "j" word. They can now be full members with all suspicion removed.
   Most of the active sn's can be verified in a period of a week or 2, leaving the Cr stratified into the verifieds and the non-verifieds. Want to be taken seriously? Get verified. Want to stop being accused of not being who you say you are? Get verified. Those who value their anonymity over everything else can stay unverified, but will not be taken as seriously as the verifieds.

   You can make new phone numbers in 2 minutes, but you can't make new voices. Whoever is making the calls would recognize a voice if he hears it too often.YWN editor has spoken to joseph and knows what he sounds like. If someone claims to be a 12 year old girl but has the voice of a guy will not get verified or get removed. Goq, if you don't like it you don't have to get verified. It's voluntary. That's the beauty of the idea.

    it might add a layer of security here.

    however as soliek pointed out, for those with the intention to hack the system, there are ways to do so.

    also, it will distance people like me who are not up to the hassle of getting verified.
    if verification was needed, i would never create an account here!

    I agree with always here.
    Jothar, we hear you, and we appreciate your effort to make this CR a safe place. But everything has a limit.

    You warned us, and you cannot do more. The internet is NEVER a safe place. If posters cannot watch their privacy, then they'll learn the hard way.

    You did a good thing by protecting and warning posters. But you cannot stay here and babysit forever.

    Check my profile- I came along at the very beginning of the Cr. I have participated in bunches of threads, fit in quite well, etc etc.

    I took a break, came back, saw criminal activity. I had to point it out. Turns out the problem was bigger than I expected. I make no apologies for trying to stop crime.

    2scents, it's VERY hard to fake a voice. And it would be voluntary. Only the ywn owner would know who's who, the rest of the info is still secret to the rest of us. So everyone has their privacy and anonymity, and we can stp accusing everyone of the "j" word. Haleivi, AYC, Zeeskite, et al can be fully accepted. Again, if it doesn't suit you, skip it.I'm not proposing paying $11,000 in escrow to be verified.

    As for my making this place unpleasant, my sincere apologies. I saw criminal activity, I pointed it out, and now things are happening to eliminate this problem. It was a more pleasant place when everyone acted without a care in the world and stalker/infostealers had the run of the place. But it was untenable.
    Have fun. Leich echol besimcha. Party away. Get back to the fun threads. I like them. I'm not a one-issue poster.And I'll get back to letting the mods do the babysitting.

    Zeeskite - why are you allowed to talk like that? When I have been fed up with posts I remain quiet. Nobody ever talked like that and got away with it before and I'm not sure why its okay now. If Jothar is bugging you, ask the mods to mod him. When other people are nasty or annoying we live with it, just like in Real Life. Suddenly everyone is free to speak out against someone? It's not that I agree or disagree with his opinions, I am just VERY uncomfortable with this kind of 'behavior'.

    I think a better way to enhance the CR would be to get a tray of nice hot danishes daily, with some cheese/vanilla rugalach for everyone to enjoy!
