please someone help me! im making gefilte fish from the frozen roll for the first time, and i needa recipe for the “sauce” that i cook it in (by sauce i mean water spices etc..lol) i like it sweet with no fishy taste…and i usually make it from scratch this week however i had no time…HELP! PLZ!
April 16, 2010 5:45 pm at 5:45 pm #1106406seeallsidesParticipantDon’t freak – you can’t go wrong – just cover the loaf with water – add 1 cup of sugar (less or more, depending on your taste, 2 Tb salt, 1 teaspoon pepper, 1 onion, 2 carrots(optional). Cook for about 1 hr, then take off the loaf paper, and cook a little longer to absorb juices.

But of course, this is not the authentic way. Jews have to eat everything sweet, even fish.
