On a regular day when driving to shul is permitted, can you park your hoverboard, segway, or scooter inside the shul?
February 26, 2017 6:12 am at 6:12 am #1219113the_shverMemberit wouldnt be apropriate to bring it into the actual room of davening bt you can put it in a side room or lobby
February 26, 2017 2:53 pm at 2:53 pm #1219114LightbriteParticipantWhat if you want to lock it somewhere? Can you do that?
I can see how it wouldn’t belong in the main sanctuary.
Would a shul have a closet or place to lock it in the front area?
Or maybe use a bike lock?
Do shuls have security cameras inside? I didn’t think about it but there was the lost tefillin of blessed me memory search with the video footage.

Usually a coatroom, depends on the place but you can usually leave it there for davening without a problem.
February 26, 2017 8:26 pm at 8:26 pm #1219116JosephParticipantPut it in the same place you’d leave your bike.
February 26, 2017 8:30 pm at 8:30 pm #1219117iacisrmmaParticipantsegways and hoverboards are not allowed on public streets in NYC.
February 26, 2017 9:32 pm at 9:32 pm #1219118LightbriteParticipantAll the more reason to have them in shul
February 27, 2017 12:31 am at 12:31 am #1219119bmyerParticipantNot everything is about NYC…
February 27, 2017 3:05 am at 3:05 am #1219120LightbriteParticipantI think iacisrmma was simply stating for NYC… please feel free to add hoverboard and segway regulations in your area or other areas
Can they at least be driven/rode on sidewalks?
February 27, 2017 3:25 am at 3:25 am #1219121lakewood maidelMemberthere arent any regulations on such things in lakewood, but i think they are a lack of kavod for the shul
February 27, 2017 4:26 am at 4:26 am #1219122LightbriteParticipantBut where do you park it? I would be concerned about it being stolen if it was left outside.
February 27, 2017 11:35 am at 11:35 am #1219123iacisrmmaParticipantLB: Thanks – In NYC, segways and hoverboards are considered “moving vehicles” and therefore need to be licensed by NYSDMV. NYSDMV does not license such vehicles and therefore cannot be used on any public property including sidewalks.
My shul allows scooters and bicycles in the hallway although there is room for only 2 or 3 bikes.
February 27, 2017 2:28 pm at 2:28 pm #1219124yehudayonaParticipantThat explains why I’ve never seen anybody using (so-called) hoverboards in NYC.
I’m waiting for a hoverboard that can actually hover.
