   My daughter has applied to Machon B.Y. Seminary for next yr. It's a half day seminary. She has already gone to an interview there. However, being that there still in the beginning of the interviewing of the girls, I really have no idea as to when they let you know if you're accepted or not. But, can anyone tell me if you know what is the seminary like & what type of girls go there? I would want her to make friends w/ really good solid girls coming from good homes. I want to know & be sure that I'll be sending my daughter to a really good/decent seminary that teaches the right kind of hashkafos & things that would be necessary for them to know not only now but for the future as well. I want to know that she'll be getting a very well rounded type of chinuch there in all areas of subjects that they learn.

   Can anyone give me some insight as to what they know about it?

   Asking for information about a seminary on such a public forum such as the YW coffee room, is treading on very dangerous grounds, such as Lashon Harah. Not that there will fosure be bad things to say! I do not even know of the seminary at all. I just know that whenever we talk about an institution, there is always likely to be someone who was not happy, leading to public Lashon Harah- a terrible aveirah.
   You do have a right to inquire about the seminary though, so I would suggest that you ask someone in pivate, where you could be sure that all the conditions needed for Lashon Harah Litoeles, is met.

   If she is Machon type then she will love it! Most of the girls are great solid girls however some r not. They do have a lot of amazing teachers there. Hatzlacha Rabba

   It's a solid place. i am here is right in that it's mostly Machon girls - but that's not a bad thing. However, if you are very invested in the idea of a seminary experience (as it sounds like you are), it might not be the right place. It's really more like a...commuter college, I guess?

   "i am here" said it very well. Its a great seminary for someone who will appreciate it. There are some (many) great teachers and they cover a lot.

    I am here pretty much summed it up. It's not particularly agenda-driven, which may lead some people to call it modern.

    you can call it modern sorry about that. i can tell you from my own experience. and when you have to convince pple that your not machone type, for shidduchim purposes thats no fun either. let me tell you the name is there. It goes for the seminary to that only gets worse. ( no its not that bad just that it is looked down upon by lots of yeshivish peoplr)

    thats a give away of who i am!
