    I want to get braces.

Would that be so horrendous in the shidduch parsha?

    Thank you 🙂

It enhances one’s shidduch prospects since the end result is that it beutifies one’s teeth.

    Not really.
But taking them off and putting them back on for a wedding is a lot of money and a hassle.

    Why would you want braces?
not that i think it looks bad, i’ve had it myself and i don’t think it creates problems in shidduchim,
but they were annoying, why do girls think it’s so exciting to get???

Halevei that should be your worst concern. We’re all attracted to different things, some “offbeat.”
Hence, there could be someone going who’ll go absolutely bananas over braces, who knows?
On the other hand, if he only sees braces, you probably don’t want him anyway.

Lightbrite. Do more praying and less worrying for a Shidduch.

Build you self confidence and all will be fine!

I wonder if this topic is confusing to the UK users, who use braces to hold up their pants.

MalachOfCholent: Smart point! I don’t want braces for the sake of braces, but for their effects.

I want to correct my crossbite, and improve my oral health. Braces, and likely a retainer at night, would help extend the life of my smile, adding an aesthetic benefit to boot! G-d helping.

I think if you can afford getting them taken off for the wedding and being put back on, you should get them. I just know a few people who had to do this and ended up not putting them back on because it was too expensive and too much of a hassle. If you are willing to do that if you Bezrat Hashem get engaged while wearing braces, than go for it!

    LightBrite- in that case:
    1. go ahead and do it, i don’t believe there is anything to worry about, – good luck!
    2. please accept my apology for judging before…
