What superpower would you have? My first choice would be to read minds and my second would be to turn invisible. What about you?

The ability to assimilate everyone else's powers. Duuuuh. (Now guess who my favorite X-man is. :) )
Posted 3 months ago # -
Telepathy or telekinesis. And does turning invisible include the ability to walk through walls, etc.? That might bump it up :).
Posted 3 months ago # -
Wun Uv Meny: awww that's kinda cheating. Like asking a genie to give you infinite wishes. It's against the rules! (Is your favorite X man Rogue? Guess mine lol)
MP: telekinesis would be my third. And walking through walls would be separate. It's actually funny why it is. Makes sense to be able to walk through walls when you’re invisible.

Chochma.
We take for granted that we have it, but when we make stupid decisions that change the course of our lives (and don't know how to fix it) we realize how important chochma is, and what a super power it can seem like to someone who feels they lack it!
The ability to see the future (and change it).
Invisibility, to be able to see things (people) as they really are, not as they want us to see them. To learn from those I would otherwise be unable to learn from because of an inability to be around them.
Power of thought: to be able to convert wishful thinking (for the good) into realityWow! What a great exercise! I could go on...

The power of awareness.

"And does turning invisible include the ability to walk through walls, etc.?"
Then you would probably fall through the floors ...
Posted 3 months ago # -
My dad used to say he had the ability to see through walls . . . as long as the curtains weren't drawn. badum bum.

The power to cloud men's minds.

Going back in time and changing events :P

the ability to see the repercussion of actions. i dont mean seeing the future, just what one action will cause.
Posted 3 months ago # -
Oh yeah, seeing the future is a good one! But I'd still choose telepathy over that.
yitayningwut: what do you mean?
R.T: That would be true, but just like one has the ability to control when she walks through walls, she also has the ability to choose when to allow herself to fall through the floor. As long as she know how to control her powers.

QB: Why is it cheating? :) ((You got it right, by the way.) Is yours Professor X?
Posted 3 months ago # -
The ability to assimilate everyone else's powers. Duuuuh.
Of course, that's only useful if you know for sure that there are other super-powered people in the world. It's not of much use if you are the only one.
Likewise, there could be issues with assimilating powers from people who can't control their powers (Cyclops ?) or whose powers involve gross (meaning large, not necessarily disgusting) physical changes (Angel, [pre-transformation] Beast?).
(Now guess who my favorite X-man is. :) )
The Mimic, from X-Men 27-29. (Yes, I read quite a few comics as a kid.) :)

Oh yeah, seeing the future is a good one!
But only in a fixed timeline. Otherwise, the future you're viewing is only a possible future, not THE future.
My dad used to say he had the ability to see through walls
In the '40s, the editors at DC had to come up with a reason why Clark Kent wasn't drafted for World War II. They creatively came up with the story that Clark (accidentally ?) failed the eye test because he read the eye chart in the next room.
As long as we're talking comic books and superheroes, I recently found an interesting blog called "The Law and the Multiverse" which discusses various legal issues that superheroes would have to contend with.

Wun Uv Meny: Maybe cheating isn't the right word. And Wolf has a good point. If there isn't anyone else in the world who has power, that power would be useless. Nope, not Prof. X, but close!
Wolf: Oooh, thanks for that link. It might prove useful for my superhero novel.

The power to give others perspective. I think that the lack of perspective is at the bottom of many, many of life's pains.

to be able to see things (people) as they really are, not as they want us to see them.
I recall reading somewhere (sorry, I don't have the source, but if anyone else has it, I'd appreciate it) that HKBH did a great chesed to us by not allowing us to be able to know what other people *really* think about you.
I'm not so certain that I'd want to change that.

Wolf: Yeah, I meant given that other people have superpowers. And that I could control my power and only assimilate what I wanted to (poor Rogue :( ). And your memory goes waaaaay too far back for me. :)
QB: Jean? Or Emma Snow?

Flight, for sure.

Ok, new question.
If you could be any Harry Potter creature other than human, which would you be?
I'd be a troll.
Posted 3 months ago # -
Metamorphamagus. (Now guess my favorite HP character. :) )
Posted 3 months ago # -
Lol pba you could still be one
But seriously I would be a death eater

Hermione's cat = Crookshanks
Posted 3 months ago # -
Crookshanks! Yeah, he's awesome! :D
Posted 3 months ago # -
I'd say mermaid, but the ones in HP were ugly and evil.
Wun Uv Meny: yep Jean Grey.
Posted 3 months ago # -
oneofmany:
fyi, Nymphadora Tonks is a Metamorphmagus
you added an extra aPosted 3 months ago # -
OneOfMany - +1 - I didn't even think of a metemorphmagus lol but that would be AWESOME!!!!!! and if not, then I'd be an animagus for sure. (I don't care if that's cheating - technically it's allowed! :-))
Posted 3 months ago # -
LuvMe
an animagus of...?
an animagus can only turn into one specific animal,
they cant turn into any animal at will.
so which animal would you choose?Posted 3 months ago # -
A beetle. My family would be ashamed though, and leave me locked in my room.
Posted 3 months ago # -
Oops. But yeah, that. :)
LuvMe: Hee hee, let's both cheat. :)

I'd love the wisdom of Shlomo Hamelech - mainly because that one really existed.
Posted 3 months ago # -
iBump 2.0 - probably either a really cute fluffy dog or a dove (so I can fly). ooh or a dolphin, except that it would only be worth it if i lived on the water.

I wouldnt mind being the richest harry potter character!
jk rowlingPosted 3 months ago # -
crazybrit, you'd have to spend over 10 years working hard on creating the whole HP world. Up for the task? I am!
Posted 3 months ago # -
or I could just copy paste it!
Posted 3 months ago # -
Hey, the mermaids in HP are cool! And sorry, Rogue totally pwns Jean. :)
Posted 3 months ago # -
crazybrit, plagiarism is against the law! :P. If someone copied and pasted my novels, I'd hunt them down with two pitchforks lol.
Wun Uv Meny, uh uh! Poor Rogue can't even have human contact. And being stuck with other people's memories would suck so bad! Sometimes I can't even stand my own memories lol. And the powers don't even last. But yeah, if not for the human contact thing, Rogue's power would be cool, but telepathy??? ohhh yeah.
Posted 3 months ago # -
The only reason her power isn't better is because she can't control it...otherwise, she would be completely invincible. They had to give her some sort of failing.
Posted 3 months ago # -
Wun Uv Meny, lol we could argue all night! Jean pwns because she has red hair. 'Nuff said. (okay okay, I admit Rogue's got some cool skunk hair). Think of it like this: who would win in a duel? Jean could easily fry Rogue's brain!
Posted 3 months ago # -
Oh, don't even go with the hair...not a chance! And c'mon, it's so easy to subvert to telepathy - all you have to do is wear a metal helmet. But how could you defeat a power like Rogue's?
(Can we totally argue all night? :D)

I would want the ability to create billions of birth certificates from thin air and then to register all of them for MOIFES (Medicaid, Velfare, Food Shtemps, Section 8).
My second choice would be to be able to speak fluent Hungarian!
