i know that. but most people associate "genie" with "aladdin" that's just how the modern human mind works.

Moish, the concept of a genie and of 3 wishes comes way before Aladdin (not that I believe that Joseph never saw Aladdin ;) ). Some people associate genie with an older show, but I wouldn't dream of mentioning names of shows on this site!

ok, ok. you started it, though!

and you're very funny. what's the point in putting the asterisks if we all know what it's supposed to say?

    Joseph started it.

Teen, the reason you want lots of money is because you actually want happiness. In other words, what you actually want is to be happy. If you discovered that money makes people miserable and depressed, you wouldn't want it. Am I correct about this?

It's true, money doesn't mean happiness. I happen to know someone who's father has literally billions and trust me he isn't any happier than you or me. Once you have a million you want 2, then 3, 4, etc. It never stops. The only way to be really happy is to be happy with what you have. Which, by the way, what we're currently working on in the middos thread for anyone interested.

As for what I'd want, I'm with mazal77 - moshiach! So much of what has been said in this thread is included in this: world peace, getting closer to Hashem, not having to make a parnassah (at least I think some sheitos hold that), etc. And just imagine having a Bais Hamikdush built again!

ames, deciding whether i should regret it. it was a long decision-making process of 29 seconds and i can to the conclusion in the last one.

whats with people always trying to make people more like them? why cant anyone just accept people for how they are instead of trying to change them?

Teen, what you are asking is for another thread- giving people mussar, right or wrong? But this thread is about people posting what they want, and others analyzing it. Isn't that the whole purpose of this thread?

My brother has a friend who's in his late 20's and miserable. his parents give him whatever money he needs, and now he has no desire for life. nothing to accomplish or strive for. Many reritrees end up going back to work after discovering how boring life out of the office is. People need goals and something to strive for. the lack of money in people's lives actually makes them happier, because it gives them a goal to strive for- not a Torah-oriented goal, but it keeps them busy. the midrash rabbah in Bereishis says that the yetzer hara is "tov meod"- very good. Without the yetzer hara, nothing would get built or done. The desire for money makes the world go round. Having 100 billion dollars is fun for the first day or 2. then what?

moish- you sound like a typical teenager when you talk about love like that. (Wipe that scowl off your face young man) And I know you probably hate being called typical, so...
