When we say there is a high degree of shechinah that is shoreh upon multiple Jews learning Torah, does this include learning via the internet or via the phone?

(That’s mostly not what happens in the Coffee Room.)

The question is, is it different from Jews learning

Torah separately? The Shechinah is associated with

certain numbers of Jews coming together, which leads

me to think that a physical concentration of Jews is

needed, and when they are learning Torah, fewer Jews

are needed than if they were not.

How about learning Torah via postal mail or email.

    Sure, when we’re learning Torah.

Would I be “LIVING HERE” if the Shechinah wouldn’t be here?!?

Torah, When was the last time somebody was learning TORAH on the CR? i don’t mean arguing about it, even though it might lead to somebody opening a sefer for reference. It is Offically NOT a makom torah. Just people who have once learned torah post what they know, exchange info and forget when they shut the computer.(or leave the sight)

The ShChina is never Shoreh where there is L”H!(

I believe yes. When we are not arguing and showing sinas chinam to each other, but discussing things intelligently and respectfully, with Divrei Torah included and k’vod habrios, I believe the Shechinah could be here. Hashem is always with us even when we don’t merit His Presence, kal v’chomer in good times. Let’s leave the L”H at the door, though.

Hashem is always with us even when we don’t merit His Presence

Hashem is everywhere, but this does not mean that the Shechinah is.

I believe the Shechinah could be here.

But “here” (the CR) is not an actual location.

(I would’ve mentioned this at the beginning if the thread’s

content hadn’t been entirely disconnected from the title.)

Even if we were doing that in real life, I don’t think

we’d qualify for the presence of the Shechinah (except

    perhaps during the divrei Torah).

The CR is located in Grapevine Texas, a suburb of Dallas.

The Shechina is not something tangible, so it doesn’t need a tangible location to be.

But does the shechina that happens when two chavrusas learn together happen to two people who learn together in the coffee room.

For instance, Torah613Torah, is the shechina shoreh upon us right now for even discussing this topic the same way it would be if instead of typing this we were talking about it in person?

Or is there some sort of osmosis that happens only in person?

    #1113755

The Shechina is not something tangible,

so it doesn’t need a tangible location to be.

Physical locations are by definition tangible.

We are talking about a metaphysical phenomenon

    that nevertheless is physically locatable.
