any good books that are popular (only jewish) that you would recommend?
January 16, 2017 1:35 am at 1:35 am #1216852☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantWhy do they have to be popular?
January 16, 2017 1:48 am at 1:48 am #1216853Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantWe already have a thread about this. Why was it necessary to make another one?
January 16, 2017 2:50 am at 2:50 am #1216854rebshidduchParticipantPlease post the thread on the same topic as this.
January 16, 2017 3:46 am at 3:46 am #1216855Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantGranted it doesn’t specify Jewish books, but l’maaseh people only listed Jewish books (as required reading) and then proceeded to bash goyish books.
January 16, 2017 4:17 am at 4:17 am #1216856LightbriteParticipantThe Y.W. Editor posted this on another thread (Jewish Book Reviews)…
January 16, 2017 4:35 am at 4:35 am #1216857☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantI beg to differ. That thread is about books you want everyone to read, presumably because it would improve everyone’s lives, while
this thread is, I assume, a request for enjoyable books.
(Other book recommendation threads do of course exist, though.)
January 16, 2017 7:18 pm at 7:18 pm #1216858Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantRandomex – thank you for answering my question. I had not understood the OP that way. Is that what you meant, Rebshidduch?
Either way, my recommendation remains the same. Both for enjoyment and improvement, I highly recommend:
“Emunah with love and chicken soup” by Sara Yocheved Rigler.
January 17, 2017 3:08 am at 3:08 am #1216859rebshidduchParticipantDid anyone read the balancing act? I need to wait to read emunah with love and chicken soup since they dont have it at the library right now.
February 16, 2017 2:00 pm at 2:00 pm #1216860rebshidduchParticipantDid anyone read emunah with chicken soup? How long did it take you to finish it?
February 16, 2017 11:55 pm at 11:55 pm #1216861Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantIt’s a very long book. I like to finish books all at once, so I read it pretty quickly. I don’t remember how long it took, but probably no more than 3 days. I read the first half in order, and then I skipped around for the rest until I had read all of it at least once (actually probably several times!).
It’s a really good book – I actually bought it, even though I don’t usually buy these kinds of books. It’s usually a waste of money to buy these kinds of books because you usually only read them once.
But I felt like this was a book that I would want to have around to keep rereading.
