Hi guys, long time no post.

I have a quick question for all the filter experts on here. Youtube is on my “always block” list on K9, and won’t ever appear, not if I type in the url, and not as a video on a dif. website, like YWN. All of a sudden, not only do videos show upon websites, I can actually go directly to youtube.com and not get blocked. Logging in to K9 shows that youtube is still in my always block list. I tried deleting it from the “ab” list and re-adding it. No go. The only eitzah so far is to restart my computer, which is obviously not practical. Can anyone enlighten me as to how to fix this glitch?

    Why isn’t restarting an eitzah?

Anyhow, try blocking the whole video category. Also, put an extra layer of filtering on. I use OpenDNS on my router.

I had the exact same problem. It also let internet through at off times. I called k9 and they had me download something so they could diagnose and fix it remotely. I would advise you to do the same. Nothing else worked.

In “Advanced”, make sure “Filter secure traffic” is checked.

If restarting your computer works that seems like the fastest eitzah.

It would make more sense to uninstall K9 and reinstall it, or install some other filter because k9 isn’t a very good filter in general.

The problem with the restart fix is that it does nothing to prevent the issue from reoccurring.

YW29: K9 provides telephone support for free users of their program?

I sent them an email and they asked me to download something that would send them a snapshot of the problem occurring. I honestly can’t remember if I spoke to them by phone, or if they were just so quick with their responses that I remember it as a conversation.

I would say go to a tag office if possible. I tried K9 a while ago and it nearly destroyed my computer (I had a mac at the time).

I have personally broken into the K9 filter easily, multiple times.

I suggest you get a stronger filter.
