March 29, 2016 12:47 pm at 12:47 pm #1224455Mazel Tov LF, is the chasunah being oversees?
March 29, 2016 2:18 pm at 2:18 pm #1224456Thank you. And yes, that’s what I meant ‘double the fun!’. (It’s probably going to be overseas, maybe some here will have a hookup – oversee!)
I’m just coming back from the initial party/ lchaim/ vort/ tnoim (hence the quiet here in the CR!) Now we have to try to get a whole Froggie family over. There’s a word for that. I think they say YIKES!!!

February 5, 2017 12:21 am at 12:21 am #1224470Mazal Tov LF 🙂
February 5, 2017 9:50 am at 9:50 am #1224471DY – what Simcha do you get a mazel tov for and how did Midwesterner know about it?
Anyhow, mazel tov!
February 5, 2017 11:46 am at 11:46 am #1224472You know, I was thinking, it would be really funny if I get engaged to someone (IYH) and find out that he’s in the CR. I wonder if that has ever happened to any of the CR posters?
February 5, 2017 2:20 pm at 2:20 pm #1224473I wonder if that has ever happened to any of the CR posters?
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/does-your-wife-read-ywn-and-a-confession
February 5, 2017 2:42 pm at 2:42 pm #1224474But his wife doesn’t post – only he does. And he could have started after they were married.
February 5, 2017 2:44 pm at 2:44 pm #1224475Correction – his wife doesn’t post as far as he knows.
February 5, 2017 3:28 pm at 3:28 pm #1224477okay, but that could be true of anyone. Maybe your wife posts too.
February 5, 2017 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm #1224478Mazel Tov DY on the removal of your subtitle! A pity I forgot what it was… (something about CR Talmud Chochom?)
In any case Retzono shel Adam zeh Kvodo.
February 5, 2017 4:53 pm at 4:53 pm #1224479Thanks to all for the good wishes, and good job, Mammele, on figuring it out.
As I recall, my most recent subtitle was not nearly as flattering as what you (sort of) remember (which I never had).
February 5, 2017 7:13 pm at 7:13 pm #1224483Oh now I remember. It was “Singular mind”. So maybe change it to “Veteran CR Talmud Chochom” cause that’s really what it should have been.
And sorry for being such a nag. Hope you’re not playing me (and all of us) though… I’m not good at chess.
February 5, 2017 7:22 pm at 7:22 pm #1224484Mammele, I appreciate the compliment, but knowing how to Google ? talmid chochom.
February 5, 2017 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm #1224485Right. So let’s make it “Perhaps a Talmid Chochom, Perhaps an Onav, Perhaps a Mod” and let the CR batlanim decide…
Just kidding, they’re all Talmudi Chachomim — I mean expert googlers — not ch”v batlanim.
February 5, 2017 8:28 pm at 8:28 pm #1224486“And sorry for being such a nag. Hope you’re not playing me (and all of us) though… I’m not good at chess.”
What? Where did chess come into this?
February 5, 2017 8:51 pm at 8:51 pm #1224487Nothing about you LU or actual chess. It’s just an expression.
February 6, 2017 9:32 am at 9:32 am #1224488oh well, I started to get excited that I finally have someone to play chess with..
February 18, 2017 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm #1224489I wanted to let CR know that I got engaged! So mazel-tovs are due…
(I debated long if and when to post this, because I worry that I might spend too much time posting, which I can’t afford… so if you see me post more than once a day here, it’s probably a bad thing)
February 19, 2017 12:02 am at 12:02 am #1224490oh my gosh.. I am so excited! MAZEL TOV! That is such good news!!!
I guess I can’t ask you any of the usual questions (what’s her name? Where is she from? How old is she? What does she do? etc.)
So we’ll just have to leave it at: Mazel Tov! and you should be zoche to build a bayis neeman b’Yisrael!!
Thanks for letting us know!
February 19, 2017 1:22 am at 1:22 am #1224491Yay Person1!!! Mazal TOV Mazal TOV Mazal TOV 🙂 🙂 🙂
March 11, 2017 8:48 pm at 8:48 pm #1224492Thanks so much lightbrite and Lilmod Ulelamaid!
LU although I can’t share the details, I have some fact you and others might find of interest.
I posted a question here in the past about whether it was OK for me (an introvert) to turn down extroverts simply for being extroverts. So the girl I got engaged to eventually isn’t an introvert in any way. We are similar in many ways though. It turns out you can’t really define the whole person simply by their level of extroversion.
Another interesting fact is that although both of us have been in shiduchim for quite a lot of time, we didn’t have to “settle” in any way. We are both absolutely happy.
March 24, 2017 7:19 am at 7:19 am #1243288הודו לה’ כי טוב
Our son became engaged!!!!March 24, 2017 7:39 am at 7:39 am #1243297Mazal Tov, LF!
March 24, 2017 8:38 am at 8:38 am #1243299Mazal tov!
We should only share simchos together.
March 24, 2017 8:39 am at 8:39 am #1243300Mazel Tov!!!!
March 24, 2017 9:48 am at 9:48 am #1243353Amen!
And for those who don’t know, it’s ב”ה an Israeli wonderful (++++!!!) girl. Which means (gulp) another trip of Froggies to the Holy Land.
<Click Here> to fund one (<Click Here> for multiple) ticket for one Froggie…
March 26, 2017 6:32 am at 6:32 am #1243569LF – Mazel Tov! That’s so exciting!! And it’s such a zchus that your sons keep marrying Israeli girls!
Hatzlacha funding the trip! Sorry I can’t help…still trying to figure out how to pay for my own trip to the US….if you come up with any ideas, please let me know…
March 26, 2017 8:49 am at 8:49 am #1243591And yes, the Vort is אי”ה today… sometime, somewhere is Israel. I’m gonna have to do it be there with skype (while cleaning for Pesach)! Lucky Frogette is representing me!
March 26, 2017 8:52 am at 8:52 am #1243585Thank you!! אי”ה by you בקרוב! (and don’t forget to post the good news here!) I don’t know your name, but HaShem does, that’s the main thing that counts, he knows exactly whom I’m having in mind when I bench you!! Nissan is an especial time for good tidings… especially for Shidduchim (מושיב יחידים ביתה מוציא אסירים בכושרות).
HaShem… I realize the Chassodim you did, and do for us, IN SPITE of by behavior. I realize it is entirely a מתנת חנם, through and through. No, there is NO WAY I can be תולה on anything I have EVER done, rather it’s an undeserving חסד in spite of my ways… Please רבונו של עולם, make our Simchah more complete by having others being helped out in their מצבים, in their time of need, each to what he or she may need to make them truly happy.
March 26, 2017 10:03 am at 10:03 am #1243706Amen! Thanks! That is so nice of you! By the way, I just learned that when you’re davening for a refuah Shelaima for someone (and I assume it applies for anything else as well), if you don’t know their Jewish name, you can use their כינוי. And if you don’t know the parent’s name, you can use any other information you know about the person to identify them so it’s clear who you mean.
So if you daven for “lilmod u’lelamaid from the CR” that should be enough of an id for me.
(source: Dirshu footnotes on the Siman in Cheilik Aleph about “Refainu”.
March 27, 2017 7:26 am at 7:26 am #1244379If you really want to daven for me with my real halachic name, I can give it to you through the mods. There’s no reason I can’t tell you my halachic name, since you wouldn’t be able to figure out who I am, but I wouldn’t be comfortable writing it for the whole world.
March 27, 2017 8:49 am at 8:49 am #1244403I’m not a Rebbe, Rav, nor Rosh Yeshiva by any strech of anyone’s imagination. My having a certain name in mind, I’m afraid (actually quite certain) won’t do much.
March 27, 2017 9:08 am at 9:08 am #1244471I never really understood the whole name thing.
It is quite clear that ideally you should mention the name and mothers name, or at least some form of definitive information, he davening for someone. What is the neccesity for this? If I just have someone in mind, why is the tefillah any less powerful?
