Would you sleep on a memory foam mattress topper?

I’m torn. They are comfortable and make meh beds into yay beds.

That said, do we know the long-term health consequences of sleeping on such man-made materials?

If you’re okay with sleeping on memory foam yourself, are you okay with your kids sleeping on memory foam?

Do you weigh the pros and cons? Or if memory foam has immediate pros, such as better more restful sleep, then is it okay to not think about cons, and say that we aren’t ruled by the univers’s natural laws and have emuna that all will be good?

    Thanks! ☺

Regular mattresses are man-made. And the long-term health consequences of sleeping well are generally positive.

I sleep on a bail of hay.

I wouldn’t risk my life with man-made stuff.

I would check out all the reviews of the particular product before trying it. We have a memory foam mattress and have no trouble with it, but we bought it from a place where it was airing out in a warehouse for a long time, so it had no smell. I think I’ve heard of some people buying them and being disturbed by the strong chemical odor.

If you think that’s bad, try sleeping on a bail of hay

    I like this thread!

Btw, yes regular spring mattresses are man-made too — but thank G-d at least we have our parents and grandparents’ mattress sleeping experiences — they’re our guinea pigs of sleep technology.

We’re the guinea pigs of memory foam!

Also… I have to confess, the whole fire in London thing freaks me out, and I am not sure how comforting it is that at least the polyurethane toppers was slathered in flammable-reduction substances.

But then again, do we live for disasters or live for life?

    Thanks!
