You mean New Square, otherwise known to chasidim as Skver. It’s a town near Monsey founded and built by Skvere Chasidim, headed by the previous Skevere Rebbe o’bm.
Its like a shtetl in America, and I heard their hachnosas orchim is something special.
Its obviously a very sheltered environment, that being the point of the whole thing.

I am looking into a shidduch for a boy from here. So I would like to know do they have internet? Do they watch movies or TV? What type is this? Would you recomend me to a boy this type?

    Rebshidduch,

To answer your questions: no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

Did I get all of them?

Meno, you answered no to all the questions. That applies to most people in N. S. If someone is considering a shidduch from here it’s possible that thier son/daughter is not typical Skver.

The guy use to be skver chasidish and now he is litvish. He is suppose to be a very good boy. Any idea why someone would go from being skver to being litvish? Should I give it a yes?

Meno, how do you remember? No, not even close. The guy with a tatoo I stopped talking to LONG ago.

The guy I am looking into is a drop out chasid who became litvish. He is very religious and he does not want a tatoo and he wants a wive who will cover her hair and only wear skirts.

You said he is very religious, who cares if he is Litvish or Chassidish.

If he’s a good boy, with good middos and yiras shomayim, and he wants a similar life to the one you want, go for it. He isn’t New Square type anymore, so why is it relevant what they are like?

It would make sense to find out why and how he left, just to make sure it isn’t something that would have a negative effect on your life. In other words make sure he isn’t a anti-establishment, bitter angry guy.
    Probably he’s not.

Very important question to ask is why he did drop out from being a Skverer chassid.

Wanting a wife who will cover her hair and wear only skirts makes it sound like he’s a baal teshuva. This is not usually even discussed amongst frum people as it is a given.

He became Litvish, but very religious, & a very good boy overall,,,,,
So what’s the difference as to whether he’s from Skver or not? he’s a good boy? serious? all info. provided positive? go for it, coming from skver is only a bonus, he just couldn’t keep up to their demands, as long as he’s not rebellious shows that he’s a serious boy,,,,

Nechomah, on saw you at sinai they ask everyone if they want someone who wears a sheitel and skirt so that is not 100% accurate.

They used to commercially package and distribute orange juice, but I do not see it in the supermarkets any more. The juice was good.

But the New Square milk brand was a much better and well known brand. It made no sense to have retired that brand.

Is it okay to not want to become chasidish if your marrying a chasid but dont mind to be yeshivish?

Rebshidduch: Skver is a very closed town and chassidus. They jave vaadim for all sorts of things. They have a vaad for tznius, they have avaad that looks for anyone deviating even slightly from their way of life. Some people flourish in that sort of environmemt, and some people find it oppressive.
So it is perfectly understandable why someone would opt to leave that society. I don’t think it should be held against him.

It’s the type of community where, if you commit the grave sin of davening in a nearby nursing home so that elderly Jews can have a minyan, you will be subjected to intense harassment until they get rid of you, but if you attempt to burn down a home with a family sleeping in it, you will be welcomed back with open arms and celebrated when you are released from prison.
