It’s like all of us (not that we are even the level of Noach’s toes but…) we preach and preach about bringin Mashiach Bimheira Veyameinu and Hashem warns that if we dont do teshuva then…. and Hashem sends us sign after sign after sign that clearly shows He means buisness yet…. we don’t believe that the signs Hashem are sending us are real signs.
It’s like the guy who prays to G-d for a parking spot and then a car pulls out and he says “Never mind G-d, I found one.”
In all Seriousness though- there are quite a few terutzim for this.
One including that he was hoping that the ppl would do Teshuva and Hashem wouldnt bring it afterall.
