This is fairly obvious to those who know how these things work but I thought I’d point it out for the benefit of the rest of you.
When a thread “falls off the page” you can find it by going to “page 2” or “page 3”, etc. This can be helpful for days when there are many threads and you are looking for a discussion you were reading yesterday. I think that there is supposed to be a “next” link at the bottom of the main Coffee Room page but for some reason it’s not there so you have to type it in manually.July 22, 2011 11:58 am at 11:58 am #1023506
Ooohhhhhhhhh.July 22, 2011 12:09 pm at 12:09 pm #1023507
Now, I know I’m going to sound like a moron but I’ll ask it anyway. Where does it say page 2 or page 3 for us to go to other threads? I looked on the bottom of the page but don’t see anything. Like I said, for sure I sound like a moron but nothing I can do to help that!July 22, 2011 1:45 pm at 1:45 pm #1023508

Plz don’t label yourself so negatively! You are so not.
On the top bar, where it says http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom, just type “/page/2” yourself.July 22, 2011 3:01 pm at 3:01 pm #1023510
why not just add a pagecount on the bottom…July 24, 2011 2:25 am at 2:25 am #1023511
The point is that the “Next” link is supposed to be there but for some reason YW’s system got messed up and it’s not there. So you have to manually type it into the address barJuly 24, 2011 2:48 am at 2:48 am #1023512

I did not know that but I liked that if I want to see a commentary that I entered a comment on, I can view my profile and then I can see any conversation that has been posted and elapsed on the list.July 24, 2011 2:52 am at 2:52 am #1023513
How come when you click on the time stamp to get to the last post on the thread, it sometimes shows you only the last post, and sometimes it gives you the whole page?July 24, 2011 3:16 am at 3:16 am #1023514
I have the same question – I’m guessing it has something to do with where on the page the post is.July 24, 2011 3:46 am at 3:46 am #1023515
also another annoying thing at least for me is when you go to the last page and there is no comment (like on the 50th or 51st post) it’s hard to go back to the previous pageJuly 24, 2011 5:53 am at 5:53 am #1023516
If you want to read the last few posts, (not just the last one) click on the thread title and you’ll get to the OP. Above the OP it says

“Latest reply” is a link but the page doesn’t get cut off.
I’m sure theres an easier way.July 24, 2011 6:04 am at 6:04 am #1023517

It cuts off all the posts above it when I just tried it on this thread.July 24, 2011 6:12 am at 6:12 am #1023518
I tried it on a couple of threads with more than one page and it worked…July 24, 2011 6:16 am at 6:16 am #1023519
I just tried it on several multiple page threads. Some of them it cut off immediately above the last post; some of them it cut off in middle of the page (you could see some posts above the last one but not all the way to the top); and some it showed the entire page.July 24, 2011 7:50 am at 7:50 am #1023520
Yep. That’s another annoying bug in the CR. That the “last post” link often cuts off most of the page. The solution is to click in the address bar on the cut off page and remove the end of the URL starting with the # sign and click enter. Then scroll down to the last post. I think that kapusta’s solution usually works for threads that only have one page.
I think this “last post” bug depends on the computer and browser. I have asked the Editor about it and he didn’t seem to know what I was talking about. Apparently his browser doesn’t have this issue (or he just didn’t understand what I was trying to explain)July 24, 2011 8:59 am at 8:59 am #1023521
By the way, as I mention in the sticky thread, there are now 149 pages of threads in the CR http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/searching-cr-for-old-threads?#post-275521July 25, 2011 9:39 am at 9:39 am #1023526
Its very interesting to be told how many pages there are here since this site opened just over 5 years ago. Will you tell us more YWN facts and trivia. We find it fascinating. Eg how many posters are registered here? (I see there are 2588 followers of YWN on Twitter at the moment)November 25, 2013 3:57 am at 3:57 am #1023527

The last post issue is still the same. It happens in almost all browsers. You can see the earlier posts before it completes. It is also in the source code. A browser scrolls down to the anchor when there is a ‘#’ in the URL. I never around to analyzing this but perhaps the middle column is a frame and therefore it alone gets scrolled without a srollbar to undo it.July 15, 2014 12:02 am at 12:02 am #1023532

There used to be the archive split into various categories – Decaffeinated Coffee, Controversial Topics, Beis Hamedrash, Recipes, etc. Now the categories still exist, but how do we access the archive?August 5, 2017 10:16 pm at 10:16 pm #1332933
yekke2- you can click on the topic in a page and it brings you to all posts of that topicAugust 6, 2017 11:42 am at 11:42 am #1333111
I know, thank you.
Not all categories have topics readily available without searching… I guess googling it would work, though…
