Before airplanes were invented, did people make paper airplanes?

They had to make it from parchment.

    Fascinating question there, btw.

    Only paper boats, I guess.

But then origami is lolder than airplanes, so probably just about everything but airplanes. What’s the fun if it can’t fly though?

They probably did, but they called it something else. Maybe they called it “flying paper”

Maybe the guy who invented the airplane got the idea from paper airplanes. Maybe the original airplane was a paper one.

lol, I was only joking, but it turns out I was right!

Google – “history of paper airplanes” and check out the Wikipedia article.

Apparently, airplanes were invented as a result of and modeled after paper airplanes. It’s still not clear to me what they were called though.

According to Wikipedia, the original paper airplanes were invented in China around 500 BCE

Thinking of the question was much more brilliant. I was just making a joke, which coincidentally turned out to be true.

So I was wrong. Oh well. At least there are some smart CR denizens out here.

I don’t know what denizens are, so I guess you are smarter than me 🙂

Mammele and Joseph: I like the boat/ship idea 🙂

Just wondering how that worked in class when people are sailing ships. Maybe in swim class.

But paper gets soggy and plastic is relatively knew.

Maybe they made them with reeds. Then paper ships would have worked.

Now I wonder what came first, Football or Paper Football? I’m guessing the former. I wonder what they call Paper Football in places where Football is Really Soccer?

Anyone in Israel know what they call Paper Football? Like when you make a little triangle puck of paper and flick it across a desk?

I never heard of paper football before, but it couldn’t possibly have been called football before football was invented, since it has nothing to do with feet (the way you described it), as opposed to paper airplanes that do fly in the air.

Also, since I never heard of paper footballs before, I am guessing that they may be a newish invention?

They usually crash-land, paper boats are better constructed

If you tie a thin sting to the back of a paper plane, you could tie on a banner and your plane could advertise a message!

    YesOrNo: That’s a genius idea!

LU: Ummmm wow that makes so much sense (lol silly question on my part). Yea the football would have to come first since there is no foot involved in the game) ~Again You Score May’ya Achooz, maybe even more 🙂

Before the CR existed, did people call others trolls?

    #1694496

Before @CaptainBump existed did people try to own the home page by bumping threads?

Only in the spirit of Purim.
