Many commonly used expressions are offensive to other organisms, particularly animals. We say things like “burying one’s head in the sand”, which accuses ostriches of thinking they can’t be seen when they can’t see (which originates from the human tendency to assume others think the way they do; ostriches have perfectly valid reasons for putting their heads in the sand, but humans think they’re invisible when their eyes are closed) and call people “sheepish” or “catty”, et cetera. This needs to stop.

The only word for people who seriously go for this sort of thing is “asinine.”

The word “leaf” was not coined by grass.
