DeGeorge Syndrome has nothing to do with Downs syndrome. It's something to do with calcium deficiencies, etc. Anyone????

"Mods: you can't delete it cuz this is the random thread!"
Actually, it's the Random Questions thread. I didn't see a question anywhere in your post. Incidentally, though, I happen to agree with you that the quality of writing in Jewish books is overall inferior to the quality of writing in secular books, albeit with some exceptions.

1st timer: have you tried googling it?

random question: anyone have any *** DELETED*** it is precisely because of what you just tried to post that 99% of you posts have not been approved and if you continue, the posts that did get through will be deleted. YW Moderator-72

What does everyone think of the ending to Green Fences?
Posted 6 years ago # -
tyah. but its intersting how it came out right after the whole Madoff thing
Posted 6 years ago # -
ames, well there's a new one around the corner :-/. Lets hope for the best...
I didn't like it that Mrs. Lawyer (forgot her name) didn't just show good old fashioned appreciation for the living room set her hubby treated her to. She gets all girlish...all emotional...not my type at all!

Posted 6 years ago # -
does anyone know if there is a way to do an automatic search in the coffee room or is it all manual?
Posted 6 years ago # -
Not exactly sure if this is what you want, but you can try CTRL+F for something on that particular page.
Posted 6 years ago # -
that COULD help but i am looking for a whole thread (the mazel tov one it seems to have dissapeared and i looked in decaffeinated coffee)
Posted 6 years ago # -
mepal: i found it!! i was looking at my profile just for fun and being that it keeps a history of everything you post i was able to access the mazal tov thread!!

When I came back from Israel, I started a new rule in my house that every person has to give a short Dvar Torah during Shabbos meals. I've been using my rabbi's weekly shiur which he posts online, but he's on vacation for the month of July, so I need a new source for the next four weeks. My problem (and this is an excellent problem to have!) is that there is just TOO MUCH out there and I don't know what to pick! I did try the YU website, but nothing I found there seemed to compare with my rabbi's inspirational ideas.
Does anyone have any suggestions of websites with shiurim that they have personally read and particularly like? (Not just common Torah websites, I know plenty of those, I'm asking for recommendations of personal favorites.)
Posted 6 years ago # -
yossi, there are easier ways to do that! Scroll all the way down on the main CR page and you should get to the list of categories. From there, you should be able to find what you need.
Mazel Tov again!JF2, may I assume that the DT's posted in the CR aren't of caliber?
Posted 6 years ago # -
Hmm, I didn't even think of that. Thanks for the suggestion. But what will I say to introduce it? This Dvar Torah is B'sheim Rabbi Jax???
Posted 6 years ago # -
ha ha! lol.
Well, I plan on posting one tomorrow night & I'll try to post the source, ie. the Rabbi that says it.I believe kapusta's is from Rabbi M. Kamenetzky.

mepal: yeah.. well i had looked in decaffeinated coffee and it didn't get me too far thanx anyway!

just curious here. does anyone know how many mods there actually are? (they seem to be somewhat randomly numbered)
Posted 6 years ago # -
I think there are THREE mods. They just switch around numbers here and there to give the impression that there are really more. Dont worry, not 99 mods!

gotcha!

Anyone has any tips on how to get a fish odor out of an article of clothing?
Posted 6 years ago # -
Anything else?
Posted 6 years ago # -
Introduce a new odor that is more powerful. Try smoke.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Ummm, you smoke? Cuz I'd need someone to do the services....
Unless you were referring to smoked lox. THAT might work. Except, its also a fish. :(

well what color is this garment? because if it is white there are certain types of bleaches (i forget the brand names right now but my mother has one) that can get it out detergents i don't recall anything at all (due to the fact that at the times when i am usually at risk of getting fish on me i am typically wearing white)
Posted 6 years ago # -
Errr, its black. And I think it was fish oil :(
Posted 6 years ago # -
lol kapusta, I really do NOT wish to embarrass myself here more than I absolutely must! But thanks for your tip.
Posted 6 years ago # -
mepal: ouch you got a tough one there but i would put my vote with kapusta (just make sure that the detergent doesn't alter color)
Posted 6 years ago # -
Maybe dry cleaning? It sounds like a job for a professional, but I wouldn't bother unless it's a fancy/expensive garment.
Posted 6 years ago # -
kapusta, yossi, this is what happened. I tried kapusta's idea (which was really funny since normally, I give my 'dirty' work to cleaning lady/my mother. This time, I was really embarrassed and I didn't want anyone to know so I had to figure out how to do it myself. That's what's great about the CR!) Anyways, so here I was trying to do something I had no clue how to do, I was sure something would go terribly wrong and I'd have to call my mother. Help! Thank goodness, I think I got it right. I soaked the garment in tons of good smelling detergent plus color safe bleach overnight. Then I put it in the washing machine with the next dark load. Dont ask, I felt like I was in the olden days, doing laundry by hand. Whatever. It was a real experience! It came out smelling SUPER good. BUT, the fish smell is still slightly there. It doesn't smell "bad" (the fishy part) so, I'll have to see what I'll do, like if other people will smell it when I wear the garment.
JF, its not dry cleanable. Can you imagine? Most things are these days. I wouldn't have gone through all this trouble if it was!
Thanks all for your help!
Posted 6 years ago # -
mepal: cleaning by hand is not from olden days boy scouts still do it! :)
Posted 6 years ago # -
ha ha! but come on, not really the norm. There are washing machines with a 'hand wash' setting.

this is a random question:
what does it mean when a thread is "sticky"?
Posted 6 years ago # -
yossi z.: a sticky thread is a thread that stays at the top of the board always, even with no replies for a while!
my random question at the moment:
i pressed something on my keyboard(while eating now) and now the font on just this site is huge! anyway to switch the font to smaller for this site now?!Posted 5 years ago # -
On the upper right hand side of the screen is an option 'Page' with an arrow pointing down. Click on that. You'll find an option there 'text size' and adjust accordingly. Good luck!
Posted 5 years ago # -
mepal: thank you! it took time for that to post, so i played around & figured it out!
Posted 5 years ago # -
Well now EVERYONE can know!
