I write with a heavy heart on the passing of Rebbetzin Jungreis. She was a legend and this marks the end of an era.

I think she was the model of a true Jewish female religious leader. She didn’t chase after titles or kavod, nor was she a feminist maharabba, but instead, used her wisdom and learning to inspire people, Jews and non-Jews alike. She was a master of kiruv, and was revered within all levels of the Jewish community, and within the Republican Party, the first ever sheitel-wearing woman on the stage of a national party convention, in 2004.

I am confident the work of Hineni will continue, as well Slovie’s legendary shadchanus.

If anyone has stories they’d like to share, please do so.
