These school shootings are copycat crimes. I think reporting them should be outlawed. Legal free speech does not include yelling "fire!" in a crowded theater.
It's important to remember, as ma'aminim, that as distressing and unfathomable as suffering is, nothing is senseless. Hashem always has a cheshbon.

DY, I know that everything is min hashamayim, but this is nuts. You hear crazy people, who, by the way, nobody suspected as being nutcases, going into schools and doing these horrible things.
Unfortunately, we have seen this in the past number of years and even before that. Where is the security? What have they learned about securing schools? There was a report on NBC about a reporter who was able to walk into schools without any difficulties. What are the guards for? This is so scaryPosted 1 year ago # -
Sam, as I recall, whether or not bechirah affects actual events is a machlokes. The Chovos Halevovos holds not, the Ohr Hachaim holds it can. Even the OH"C holds that it can't affect someone who doesn't deserve it, but it speeds up the din.
Edit: The Ohr Hachaim clearly says it can, but it's limitation might be my own pshat to limit the machlokes and to explain why Hashem clearly foils some attempts, or something I heard from my rebbeim. I don't remember which.

Hashem always has a cheshbon. Could the Cheshbon possibly be to keep Mike Bloomberg gainfully active & busy when he leaves office in 2 & 1/2 weeks time, to dedicate the remainder of his life to eradicating each & every gun from the United States of America?
If so:- Mike Bloomberg has my entire backing & support.

I don't know, but what I do know is that schools should be secured. Where are the guards, where are the locked doors? How can a child walk in with guns? Where are the metal detectors? It is terrible that the world is in such a crazy state, but why are kids allowed to walk the halls with guns? All doors should be locked and only one should stay open to the public with two guards at the door. When will that be understood?
