    ICOT: help needed asap! my artwork isn't copy & pasting good! i did put a backtick+period after it, them at the end also! curious taught us to do it by both! so really i don't need two periods?!

    Your artwork has backticks within it, which is throwing off the formatting.
    Before posting it here, paste it into notepad and "replace all" backticks with apostrophes.
    You don't need two periods.
    You need a character after the first backtick if the first line of your artwork doesn't begin in the left-most position on the line.

    kapusta-
    Try putting the first backtick on a line by itself.
    You can then begin your artwork on the next line.

    Here is what the period after the first backtick accomplishes:
    1)without the period-

    2) with the period-

    Basically, the period prevents the first line from sliding all the way to the left.
    If your first line already begins in the left-most position the period isn't necessary.

    Notepad is a text-editor that comes with Windows.
    Any word-processor will do.

    The opening backtick does not occupy a space on the display.
    That's why if you put the opening backtick (and period, if necessary) on its own line, you'll get a better idea of what the finished art will look like.

    Right now you're starting the ║K║A║P║U║S║T║A║ and ╚═╩═╩═╩═╩═╩═╩═╝ lines in the second position, in order to line up with the ╔═╦═╦═╦═╦═╦═╦═╗ line that's in the second position due to the backtick. That's not necessary, because the backtick itself doesn't take up a position on the display.

    You're welcome.
    (I like playing "teacher").
    As you probably realize, your last artwork is missing a closing backtick.
    Formatting text to be bold, italicized, or blue within the boxes will not work - the same characteristic that forces the fixed-width font turns off all other formatting.
    You can put special characters in the boxes with no problem, such as ☻♥☺ Hebrew lettering and so on.
    Don't be afraid to potchke around and try things out - that's what this thread is for.

    Using the same methodology, alt 1 produces the white smiley-face, alt 2 produces the black smiley, alt 3 produces the heart.

    2) question: the ascii art (is that what its called?) is just a picture with the same "backtick-period" before it and "backtick" after it like the boxes?

    if you're trying to draw the whole thing to start, just copy & paste from the last hangman game and redo the letters. that's what i do, same as everyone else as far as i know.

    kapusta: yeah, it's confusing that linking thing (jax, i think you're contagious. now i'm talking backwards). it took me a while but i think i got it - i'm gonna try that now.

    Cut-n-pasters-

    When copying ascii art from a web page:
    1) Copy the art and paste it into any word-processing program (including notepad)
    2) Replace all backticks with apostrophes
    3) Add a leading line with a backtick and period
    4) Add a backtick at the end of the art
