Yes.
Backticks cause formatting issues on this site due to the site software.

Trial and error.
The purpose of this thread was so that people could experiment until they get their formatting working properly.I wouldn't call the backticks a "problem" - they are viewed by the site software as formatting instructions.
Basically, they are used to tell the site software not to interpret anything between them as code. Because of this, spaces are not stripped, code is not translated (which is how I can give formatting tag samples without having them actually format the text, and the font is displayed as fixed width.
The first backtick delimits the beginning, the second one delimits the end.
If there are backticks embedded as part of the art, the special formatting is being turned on and off multiple times, wrecking the picture.Posted 6 years ago # -

mepal: hangman you just copy & paste the whole thing! the only thing you draw is the hanging guy (& rearrange the letters).

aob, where do you get the pictures from?
mepal: either draw them or copy + paste from another site. it's called ascii art. if you read a few posts higher up on this page you'll see i asked, but no links to picture sites are allowed. or if you're looking for a specific picture shown before in the cr (like a cup of coffee), you can just copy it straight from the other post.Posted 6 years ago # -
mepal: yeah, if the first thing after the (first) backtick is a space, the first line comes out shifted. anything will work, but normally we use a period.
