and wait a minute - i thought backticks undo all other code. how did you draw in blue?

There were no backticks used in the above sketch.
The way it was done was:1) Opened Word and set the font to Tahoma 10pt (this site's text font and size).
2) Opened the "Character Map" application and selected the "black box" character.
3) Pasted the "black box" several times to make a heavy line.
4) Cut-and-pasted the first line to make a second one.
5) Made the star between the lines.
6) "Selected All" and made the font bold.
7) Adjusted the spacing.
8) "Replaced All" spaces with " "
9) Used the<a>and<strong>tags to make the font bold and blue.
10) After posting, there were a couple of lines that didn't line up properly, so I went back in "edit" mode and added more 's to fix it. Several edits were required, which is what I was thanking the moderator for.Thank you all for your kind words.

did you do yours using notepad? replacing all backticks with apostrophes?

you really only need to if there are backticks in it - nice big fonts like that are like a picture that spells something out, you use them the same way.

You can either force the font to fixed-width black-and-white Courier New by using backticks, or you can use other tags such as the you used.
You can't do both.The reason the backticks didn't take is you had a non-blank character (the ".") before the first backtick.

ICOT, AOB, shucks! At least the thought is there. He wanted another color blackberry, oh well.
Also, I first tried backtick>period>my blacberry>period>backtick and it came out this way. I thought that maybe if I switched the order of the backticks and the periods it would work. Since it didn't, I didn't bother changing it back.
So I'm assuming that if I decide to make an entire post blue and have my picture inserted somewhere in the post, it wouldn't work?
