Have any of you fellow coffee roomers ever made a trip from Venice to Arosa by TRAIN?
If so, I'd like to hear about it.

Also, how many days do you recommend spending in Venice? How about Switzerland?

In Schweiz, there are the magnificient Alps. Stunning views (don't forget the brocha). It's something else.
In Venice, there are olden buildings and canals. But they have olden buildings in Switzerland too.

Yes!!! It was ... full of a lifetime of memories. Make sure you travel over two days, and during daylight. You will not want to miss any of the landscape. And I would spend the majority of your days in Venice. Switzerland just didn't seem that much different than Belgium or most of Germany. But Italy will always be unique! And Venice was just full of culture and memories you can't see anywhere else.

Does that mean you traveled by train from Venice to Arosa?
How long does the way take?
Is it really so beautiful or rather take a flight?
    Is it a major schlep?

I suggest you carry fresh bread/cheese/fruit/drink in a bag for that perfect moment where ever the spontaneous moment hits. There are so many scenic places to picnic. Not that's the way to travel.

    Smartness runs in my family.

Venice is beautiful and quaint. You can't recreate it anywhere. Because it is an island and it is an array of small alleys and streets with canals and small bridges there are no cars just motorbikes and mopeds and of course boats and gondolas. There are steps everywhere so there is a lot of walking. You can cross the entire area in about 45 minutes if you choose to.

The only one kosher restaurant is Gam Gam, the man's name is Rami. Very, very nice people. All the people in Venice are nice and helpful, it is a very warm community and charming, very charming. There is basically no "New" construction it is all old world charm.

If you take the boat over to Murano, don't be fooled into buying anything even if they say it is on sale. Just go to look at the gorgeous pieces and watch how they make the glass it is fascinating. You can get everything cheaper on the main land.

I haven't been to Aroza, but I have been to Lugano and it was beautiful. Check the weather conditions in both areas as well as what there is to do so you can decide for yourself where to spend most of your time.

Well, I purchased a train Europass that was good for all public ground transportation, unlimited for a 1 or 2 weeks throughout Europe. This is still being sold and very much worth it. I wouldn't fly within Europe, you would miss so much.
