I bought 70cm strings for my tziztis but they are no longer than the 50cm I had before. What does 70cm mean? It cant mean length before its tied because I measured the actual strings before theyre tied and theyre like 120cm…….so I’m not sure if it came with the wrong strings in the bag……….
January 23, 2018 10:18 am at 10:18 am #1455267iacisrmmaParticipantthe size indicates the width of the strings not the length.
January 23, 2018 10:18 am at 10:18 am #1455272iacisrmmaParticipantMaybe I should have said the thickness of the strings, not the width.

0.394 inch
January 23, 2018 11:56 am at 11:56 am #1455372iacisrmmaParticipantI take back my previous posts. I looked on the website of a Brooklyn Seforim store and it does correspond to the length. 70 centimeters (cm) is a little over 27″. 50 CM is a little over 19″.
Product Description
Pack contains 4 sets of strings enough to tie 4 corners.
Length: 70cmJanuary 23, 2018 11:57 am at 11:57 am #1455375twistedParticipantcm is centimeter. It cannot refer to the width because 70 cm is more than an amah. Even one cm is more of a rope than a string. mm does not work well for width either 70 mm being close to 1/4 inch

January 23, 2018 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #1456016hujuParticipantIt is distressing that the participants in this discussion have no familiarity with metric measurement. We don’t all have to be engineers like the Lubavitcher Rebbe, but we should have enough science education to be familiar with metric measurement.
January 23, 2018 8:41 pm at 8:41 pm #1456032👑RebYidd23ParticipantThe metric system is not science.
January 23, 2018 10:55 pm at 10:55 pm #1456037iacisrmmaParticipanthuju: Since the US is not on the metric system….
January 23, 2018 10:56 pm at 10:56 pm #1456039GadolhadorahParticipantA tallis katan with tzitzis 70 cm THICKNESS would require a crane to lift since that is about the size of the heavy lines used by big ships to tie them to the docks….
January 24, 2018 12:22 pm at 12:22 pm #1456291👑RebYidd23ParticipantThe US is not “on” the metric system, but it uses the metric system.
