In our home, we have it set on Thursday afternoon.
How about you?
Why do you ask that question? Who sets their Shabbos table Thursday afternoon? That seems so early.
Friday, before Shabbos.
Our table is still in use on Friday morning — there’s no way we could have it set by Thursday afternoon even if we wanted to (which, we don’t).

I think you meant to ask: when does your wife set the shabbos table?
I don’t care; as long as its set when I get home from shul, and isn’t set yet when I sit there friday afternoon and scratch my armpits.
In our home, when the kids wake up on Friday morning it is Already set. I know lots of people this way.
There are halachos about preparing for Shabbos, such as maybe even doing work before davening on Friday morning. (Work, as in preparing for Shabbos).
See the Gemaras about the Taanoyim and Amoriyim who prepared for Shabbos every day of the week, which by the way, is a chiyuv every day of the week, to remember Shabbos.
The tablecloth and candlesticks are set up on Friday afternoon. Usually my kids enjoy putting on the plates and silverware while I’m in shul. In the summertime, they’ll do that on Friday afternoon also.
Due to the short Fridays I started setting it on Thursday night. I actually like doing it much better that way as it frees up my friday afternoon

just before Shabbos, so it’s fresh and clean. My husband usually sets up the candles in the Shabbos leichter on Motzai Shabbos for the next Shabbos.

My wife sets it Thursday evening after the kids are in bed. Later that night I make the cholent. I don’t know why but i felt the need to add in that peice of info.

i dont know if its halacha or not but we were told in school by a rabbi that we should have it set the best time for you meaning- if u hav kids no u cant set it up thurs afternoon etc.

Thursday evening. It looks so much nicer when you can see the house already looking shabbosdik. I also have a 2 year old but I try not to let her in that room and keep the door shut, so she can’t pull everything off.
Also, because I work on Friday and I hate last minute rushing it’s just one more thing I can cross off my Friday list.
We use the table Thursday night for dinner, so Friday afternoon. One of the kids sets the table after they come home form school.
The hallot and desserts are baked Thursday afternoon, the table is set Thursday evening, and all food is done cooking by Friday around 3:30ish.
Challot are done every other Tuesday (and frozen), and the rest is done Thursday night or Friday. (Each daughter is responsible for making 1 or 2 things, so the cooking depends on their work/school schedules.) My wife usually cooks on Fridays.
Table is set Friday afternoon.
