“Looking at past studies they found that, while heavy drinkers do put on weight, those who drink in moderation can actually lose weight.”

I guess I’ll have to add a glass of wine to go along with my chocolate in my daily moderation routine.

    42,

My sister is a dentist, and she told me that chocolate is good for the teeth. Well, the chocolate is good, but all that sugar in it is bad.

The Rambam recommends drinking wine in moderation (Mishna Torah Hil. De’os 5:3).

Red wine also has a high amount of beneficial oligomericproanthocyanidins, and other antioxidants, which are very useful in preventing heart disease, macular degeneration, diabetes, and cancer, among with other diseases. However, too much can obviously be very dangerous.

Wine has been shown to have so many benefits that I started to drink 2 small glasses of red wine a day during the week as well as of course on Shabbos. I don’t enjoy it, though, and I often forget.

you forget to drink the wine?

or the wine makes you forget?

or you forget that you dont enjoy it?

Reb Ber: The benefits were shown for three-five glasses a week. More than that and the alcohol makes it yotza schara b’hefseida.

    #1063126

mustangrider: My bad. You’re half right. It’s two words, not one:

    oligomeric proanthocyanidins

Wine is good only if it is from Grapes grown Organically using very little sugar to Ferment the Grapes thus making the Wine dry and Sulfite Free. There is a Gemorah (I don’t Know which one) that supports the idea of only drinking Dry Wine. A lot of Antioxidants good for maintaining the Immune System.

Wine is also good for the Brain and Heart.

In preparation for Pesach we are supposed to drink 4 cups every night between Purim and Pesach. Some are machmir and drink more than 4 and do it starting Chanuka.
