i only wear wool tzitzes, (summer too) and i need a new pair. As soon as i put a new pair on and they 'warm up' they start to get the 'wooly smell'. after a while, the smell goes away, but does anybody have a proven way to eliminate the problem? washing it first? with what?

Baaaa.
It is the Beged that smells of sheep, not the tzitzes.
No one wears tzitzes. You obtain a beged (article of clothes) with at least 4 corners with intent to wear in a manner that one normally wears clothing and to derive the pleasure of wearing such beged. This creates the obligation of tzitzes (when worn normally and for pleasure) which are then attached to the beged.
As far as I a know, all tzitzes actually used nowadays are of wool.
When I got a new Talis, I remember it initially smelled of sheep.
New suits also have this smell.Posted 10 months ago # -

Goq,
I liked you comment so much that I got my friend Rachel to see it. She was reluctant, but I kind of rammed it to her, and then she said not baaaad.
I always appreciate how you can weave a light word into a discussion. It changes the whole fabric of the discussions. I do knot know what we'd do without you. Some may think that your humor is only for a fringe few, but I'd be blue without you. You give me the warm and fuzzies. I mean it sincerely and I'm not trying to pull the wool over your eyes.
