Gadolhadorah, was your fire coused by a federal pacific electrical panel?
That brand of electrical panel is know to be faulty and the government isn’t warning the public.
Many homeowners are unaware of the danger.
I purchased a home with such a panel and needed a replacement quickly.
The cost of replacement varies widely so it pays to shop around.
I used Angie’s list to find a reasonably priced and reliable electrician.

The solution to obtaining warmth is buying an electric heated blanket or electric heated throw.
These reasonbly priced appliances have warmed up my life
And made me want to tell everyone to buy one.
Before I got them i was shivering in bed even under several blankets.
But now I enjoy the gentle warm under this soft heated blanket all winter.
Anytime your sitting someplace and feel cold just wrap yourself in a heated throw and feel the instant warmth.
Energy use is minimal no need to turn up the thermostat and heating bills.

Smoke detector and fire alarms are better then nothing
But not a solution to a matter of life and death.
What good is an alarm if your faced with a fast moving fire and you have no escape route?
The modern home is filled with plastic items that act fire acelerants engulfing a home in flames in a few minutes.
The risk of being trapped by a fast moving fire is too great to ignore.
For those that have the funds a fire sprinkler system
Is the best investment to protect lives and property.

ROC , don’t blame the cheradim of USA for not moving to isreal.
If the cheradim leadership will move first then the followers will follow them.
But as long as the leadership stays put
The followers will stick here like glue.

    @chabadshlucha.
I didn’t say it was worth putting rubashkin in jail
in order to reduce the price of kosher meat.
I just made the public aware of the fact that they benefited from rubashkins suffering.
certainly I am unhappy with the fact that he spent time in jail
and I am happy he got release from jail.

we have rubashkin to thank for the low price of kosher chicken from the postville plant .
the result of the overzealous prosecutors forcing the plant to be sold for pennies on the dollar helped the buyers (shor habor) sell kosher chicken for a greatly reduced retail price.
this benefits all of us kosher consumers.
at least rubashkins suffering wasn’t for naught.

    Jews don’t like to move.
Most Jews died in the plague of darkness
Since they didn’t want to leave Egypt.
And when the call to rebuild the second Temple
When out most stayed in Babylon.
And today when the doors of the land of isreal are open.
Most Jews in exile are waiting for moshiach to ask them to move to isreal.

A wife is a friend/enemy according to the Torah.
‘Ozer kinegedo’ ( helpmate but against man) is how the Torah discribes the nature of a woman.
A perfect example was chava who gave Adam the forbidden fruit to eat in order to kill him.
A wife can be so treacherous that rabbi gershon made decree against poligomy.
So the answer to your question … should your spouse be your best friend ?……. probably not.

Joseph , the rav was talking about communities that have no Orthodox Jews.
Cleveland has everything an orthodox Jew needs to thrive.
Granted it doesn’t have the size or the intensity of Brooklyn.
But it doesn’t need to have it.
It depends on the depth of ones commitment to Orthodoxy.
If one wants to remain orthodox
one can easily do so in Cleveland.
If one wants to go off the derech he can also do so in Brooklyn.
I think rav miller would agree with that.

Rav miller said this decades ago
When orthodox Jewry was mostly located in the Brooklyn costly ghetto.
Now however Orthodox Jewry has spread all over country (thanks in no small part to the chabad movement) and one can move away from the Brooklyn costly ghetto and live an Orthodox Jewish lifestyle while saving on housing costs at the same time.
I can talk from personal experience since I moved from queens to Cleveland.
Here i can purchase a home with in walking distance of a synagogue for less then the cost of a rental apartment back home in queens.
Plus I save on property taxes too.
Last but not least yeshiva tuition vouchers are available here in Cleveland.
If rav miller would be alive today he would recommend orthodox Jewry move to Cleveland.

Using the internet is an issue I almost sure everyone will be makil (lenient) about eventually.
When the gedolim realize they can’t stop something controversial from taking place they eventually become makil (leinient) about it.
Take a look at other controversial issues and see what happened.
    First machine matzohs.
When they first came out they where considered forbidden
Because you can’t clean a matzoh machine from chometz properly.
Today everyone eats machine matzos on passover.
    Second yeshiva secular studies programs.
When the tzar of russia demanded the natziv teach secular studies in velozian.
He closed the yeshiva down .
It was impossible for him to even contemplate such a thing.
Today every child attends such a yeshiva.
    Similarly with the internet .
today its impossible for them to even contemplate it .
But i think they will allow it and use it extensively like for example the Orthodox union and chabad does today.
give them time and every Jewish rabbi and Jewish institution will be on the internet.

I once used a audio tape recorder as a chazon.
I would record some tehilim on my tape recorder
then i replayed it while I said tehilim along with it.
It gave me more enthusiasm to say tehilim.
I think it’s better to say tehilim like this then not to say tehilim at all.
