A paramedic is being hailed as a hero for coming to the aid of a woman on a respirator who was just minutes away from death after a construction crane collapsed across the Tappan Zee Bridge north of New York City.
WCBS-TV reports an ambulette was carrying a 26-year-old woman Tuesday when a crane crashed across the bridge, shutting down Thruway traffic in both directions.
Ambulance company officials say the patient couldn't breathe on her own, and the respirator was running out of power.

State police say no injuries are reported after a transit bus caught fire while traveling on the Thruway in New York City's northern suburbs.
Troopers on the Thruway detail say the fire was reported around 6 a.m. Monday on a Rockland County transit bus that was headed north on Interstate 87 in the town of Ramapo.
Police say they don't know how many people were on the bus, which was pulled over onto the highway's right shoulder between Exit 14A and Exit 14B.

Two Jewish construction workers who worked in New Square are being hailed as heroes, after helping rescue occupants from a home that exploded in Hillcrest, and making a tremendous Kiddush Hashem.
Sources tell YWN that the two men - Binyomin Zev Unger, and Yitzchok Greenberg, were working in New Square when they heard an explosion and saw a plume of smoke. The pair ran through the woods to a home that had turned into a fireball.

Dozens of FBI Agents have been seen at multiple homes and businesses in the Monsey and Kiryas Joel communities on Wednesday afternoon.
