Housing Minister (Shas) Ariel Atias, who is a member of the Security Cabinet, called for tefilos, explaining that after hearing the worrisome briefing from the heads of military intelligence, the Shin Bet and the Mossad, there is cause for serious concerns. The members of the security forum heard assessments on the threats facing Israel today, threats from Iran, Hizbullah and Gaza.
Speaking with Kol Chai Radio’s Noam Zeigman, the minister explained that the tzibur must begin davening seriously regarding the reality of the situation facing Eretz Yisrael today.
When asked to comment on the leak from the Security Cabinet that resulted in the cancelation of the follow-up meeting, Atias explained that he personally was clueless as to the source of the leak. He commented on the recommendation from fellow Security Cabinet member Minister Dr. Uzi Landau, with the latter calling on all the members of the forum to submit to a polygraph exam to determine who cannot be trusted.
Landau feels Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu must compel the members of the security forum to submit to the test for the integrity of the forum members must be established beyond the shadow of a doubt. Atias explained that from his perspective, this is the prime minister’s right and he may decide whatever he feels is appropriate within acceptable norms.
