Flight from Philadelphia to Tel Aviv Makes an Emergency Landing

15:06 IL: A US Airways flight destined for Ben-Gurion International Airport which took off from Philadelphia was compelled to make an emergency landing in Greater Moncton International Airport in Canada during the predawn hours on Tuesday, 16 Tishrei 5773.

The information available states the smell of smoke was evident in the craft. The reports indicate the flight landed uneventfully and the 233 passengers are safe.

15:11 IL: It has been learned the smoke appears to have been from an overheated oven on board the flight. Reports state the flight touched down shortly after 03:00 Canada time.

    Canada time? They have about FIVE time zones so which one?

    Moncton is Atlantic Time (ADT) so add 1 hour to NY time. First time I heard it as Greater Moncton, oh well.
