Vishnitzer Rebbe: Kosher Business Demands 100 Percent Honesty, Nothing Less

vishThe Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita is well aware that in a growing number of households in Eretz Yisrael, the financial situation is worsening. For many homes, food is no longer readily available as it once was.

The rebbe explains that “We are Jews who believe” and that being the case, business dealings must be 100% kosher, which does not permit a percent that is not kosher.

The rebbe spoke of two Jews who he knows, starting more or less from the same place. One he explains was straight as an arrow while the other cut corners, not anything big, but nonetheless he cut corners.

“Twenty agorot here and thirty agorot there – nothing major” the rebbe explains. “The one who is straight earned a good name and the tzibur prefers doing business with him while the other cannot make the same claim. We are all witness to the difficult economic times. For many parnasa is declining and this may lead to some believing they have a heter to begin cutting corners. Therefore this must be addressed for we may not. We are Yidden with emunah and we do not cut corners. Every Jew must realize his livelihood has been decreed in Shomayim and not being straight will not help anyone. We must do our due diligence but this does not include straying from the proper path” the rebbe explains.
