Guilty Plea In Shooting Of Rookie NYPD Officer

nypdsA Brooklyn man has pleaded guilty to shooting a rookie police officer who confronted him for boarding a bus without paying fare in February.

Rashun Robinson pleaded guilty Friday to an aggravated assault that a judge says will keep him in prison for the next 25 years.

Kings County District Attorney Kenneth Thompson says the 29-year-old Robinson showed “utter contempt” for officers when he fired three shots at them.

Bullets struck Officer James Li in the leg and groin.

Li, in just his second month on the force, suffered significant nerve damage to his leg and walks with a cane. Thompson says it’s unknown whether the nerve damage is permanent.

Robinson’s sentencing is scheduled for September.
